I just new to this car thing..... thinking of getting a new car, mainly for transport purpose.... live very far from workplace..... Another think is that ..... All three can put about 10% down... heard Bmotors has promotions for vios at 1.9% interest, the rest(city and Fit/Jazz) at 2.3%. Which is the most value for money.
Can anyone out there tell which is the most value for money in terms of FC, and resale value and ride comfort..

for me, i choose the city.

if u look beyond the odd design and price, u will see ample leg space, CVT, VTEC !! big boot space, good FC (Jazz is even better), mod-able and ultra seats arrangement.
driving wise, it is fun to drive with steromatic on the steering wheel like F1.

OF COS CITY is the best lah! hahaha...

I am driving one now and I tell you...despite the VTEC engine I am still getting ard 15km/l which is very good for me...my previous car gives me 10km/l.

If you are talking abt cost of car, of cos VIOS is way much cheaper. but I personally drove my fren's and went to test drive and i dare say that the cabin space and the handling sux big time (no offence to VIOS drivers) hehehe....

Also I think lah ok i think lah based on my on the road experience, City Vtec can kill VIOS VVTI anytime....

Why buy City ? For the VTEC ? how often u need it?? Pay 8K more for it??

Vios is whole lot Chioer than a weird looking City......? Get it and you get admiring stares not a 'shake head' stare........ Laughing

Good Pickup, SPORTY looks, can mod alot... GOod FC , smart VVTI engine, cheaper yet same engine specs(hp and torque) as City.

Visit and join the happening Vios SG Club... very frenly ppl inside ready to answer your Vios vs City question....

Yes it does come with bodykit(front,rear and side).... Just went to see fit(jazz) at a showroom... price tag S$72400... FC 24/perlitre(wonder if its really accurate...

Anyway... has a family of four (including parents who are plump(ard 70+kg). Wonder which is more comfortable for rear seat passengers??? Looked ard all three looks almost the same. Any expert views... thinking of getting one of the booked by next week...

Underpower for City iDSL model : 88hp.
Vios hp: 109hp

well, a Honda City for a much bigger cost has :

ok, correction, City Vtec has the same features of Vios, airbags etc...
It also has 110 bhp, same as Vios too, but slightly better cos of Vtec. Check it out at Honda main website.
If u can tolerate the centre dashboard of the Vios, then u should be fine.

True, Vtec is only activated when RPM is hit at certain level, Vios VVT is always on, so u can judge the performance from there. Without Vtec, City is quite fast liao.
As for rear passengers, if u are not getting City, I strongly urge u to avoid Vios as well. When I sat in the rear section of the Vios, I have to sit in a 'SBS seat' manner. Very crampy and my head bumped onto the roof.
City is really spacious inside.

In the end, it's your own decision, go and test drive, sit in it, 'rip' the car inside out at the showroom.

City under powered? No way lah. Dont be fool by the 88bhp output. It is powered by iDSI and CVT. You get the max power at 2700 rpm whilst Vios comes in max at 3500 rpm.

Now let's look at the spec and high tech stuff of City:

iDSI engine - intelligent dual sequenstial ignition (twin spark for better combustion and power, aka Alfa twin spark engine)
CVT- Continous Variable Transmission (expensive stuff here, it means no jer or shudder when the auto box is shifting up or down)
Steermatic - FI racing at your finger tips! (Manual override)
Ultra Seat - 3 mode (tall, long, flat for that trip to Ikea)
FC- 21km/litre(highway, constant 90km/hr)
Electric Power Steering - powered by electrical means, so no power lose from engine unlike conventional power steering)
Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD(eletronic brake distribution)
Modification - Mugen, Modulo, Airmaster bodykit avaliable cheap cheap across JB.
Interior Space - Ample legroom, roof space for rear passenger

This car is the first made in Thailand model for the Japan market and its hot selling in Japan now. Do you think those Japanese engineers and QA in Thailand want to get fired by selling a substandard low perfomance, bad quality new model in their own domestic market? This is a important project for them to show their big bosses in Honda Japan.

Also importantly, check out carefully the financing term at KM and BM. Watch out for the terms and conditions attached. That's why I chose KM.

In terms of FC, Jazz/Fit is the best. It is also highly Mod-able.

Dont always get fooled. This is CITY not CIVC SIRs kind of VTEC.

Pickup VIOS wins CITYat less than 9 secs, TOP Speed also wins at close to 200km/h.

I think on the bonnets you saw more KM logo than Honda.!!!!

That Fuel Consumption is for testing purpose. On normal road driving Vios can get 17 to 18km/l where else City cant get 22 or 23 km/h as CLAIM driving on normal road.

When talking about Civic, those honda ppl will say i be able to pull till 8k rpm so my car is powerful on contrast... for City thos ppl will say my full pwer kicks in at less than 3k rpm. Dont u think this is contradict!!!!!!

Little Tiger...City Vtec does not work in the same way as City iDSI in terms of max torque. Vtec will kick in at 5500 rpm whilst for iDSI, its full torque will come in at 2700 rpm. This means iDSI has better lower end torque power which is good for city driving. Vtec is for that extra boost. Guess you have to read up about what is toruqe and what is vtec to understand what I am talking about.

Vios can beat City by 9 seconds? You got to be kidding. A stock iDSI City can beat Vios anytime and not even mentioning a City vtec. Mine you, we are talking about stock, no modification yet. Some bro in the Honda City Club has modification and we are already talking about thrashing higher end car. Vios is not mentioned as it is not worth mentioning. I have tried it so many times on the road; at traffic light, NS highway. Never been beaten before.

Ask anyone in the car trade or mod shop and they will tell you Honda cars are famous for high tech engineering and performance. Toyota? Yup, family saloon, conservative, dull, will get you from point A to B safetly, performace average, FC is getting worst in new models.

Go down Kallang McDonald car park every Saturday afternoon and go gawk at the mod City, Civic, Integra there.

wow, actually you are kind of right there. If one wants better handling of car and FC, choose Honda cars anytime.. However, based on the two cars VIOS and CITY, i think that the VIOS has a better packaging, as what being written earlier, both cars also from Thailand..

here's the gist, if you want space and performance go for city..
if you want looks and packaging, sacrifice the space, go for VIOS,

Do u read properly.... Vios pickup is less than 9 seconds... what about CITY? pls give me your stat and figure? If Vios can beat City more than 9 sec then it mean VIOS can 0 ~100km/h in 2 secs meh faster than Mclaren F1? use ur brain to think and understand properly.

I did mention about top speed of VIOS close to 200km/h TESTED what about CITY??? skip the topics?
About thrashin higherend car. Vios pickup and top speed can beat BMW 318, CITY and Civic (as u mention we are talking about stock so not those SIR which are of different class and cc), other 1.5 or 1.6 cc, Accord, CRV, HRV.

I did mention the Fuel Consumption was tested on spore road, what about CITY? dont dare to mention only say according to the manual... haha...
ya..... few yrs back Honda hybrid broke the records from Spore to Thai at average close to 30km/l. But how to they drive? at the average of 40km/h hogging the NS highway and with aircon off and window down.... that was mention in newspaper and magazines, does that count?

I dun see why u guys are fighting over whether the vios or city can outrun which when both cars are never constructed for the purpose of outrunning any car…. But the fact is, based on stock cars, a Vios do really have a better pick-up than a i-Dsi City in a 0-100km/h sprint (Vios’ darn light body contributes to that)... As for the Vtec City and Vios, I have no comments cos I dun really know (since both have about the same hp, City might have the edge with the vtec?).... btw I drive neither a vios nor a city… kudos guys

Juz a question that I always wanna ask (maybe u City drivers can give me an answer) A City has got such a big boot space but such low hp (88 for a i-dsi City), how is the car going to sustain the extreme weight when it is totally full? An Impreza with 90+ hp is already underpowered and has pretty poor pick-up (unless u step hard on the gas)
