EON got desgin rights (unltd) from Mazda lar. nowadays..all cars design seem to be link..nex Volvo will use M3 platform, Vauxhall will use some Saab engine and component and Lotus tune chasis...GM rebadging is evrywhere.

Gen2 is not quite actually popular in M'sia.
I heard from my M'sian friends that Gen2 is very 'fragile' and good to own for short term only. the association with Lotus is not a plus point. Lotus has been declining compared to early 90s<. i suspect it could due to proton which owns the Lotus company now.
For a S$66K price, it's better to get a Vios, City or Altis if u chip in a bit more.
Too ex for that $$ quote. Resale value is less favourable to Jap cars.

infact, when i was driving in M'sia a few time last mth, i hardly saw any Gen2 on the NS highway. mostly were Proton wira, satrias, waja, perdanas and kancils

i would skip this model if i'm buying a car.

Luckily mine will be Mazda3. Also nearyl drop off from my chair...so much diff.
In fact, from the back it looks like Kia, from the front like cheapskate Subaru Legacy...

Genz-2 is a perfect car.

I was been told that, the engine inside Genz-2 was a proton engine.
They don't use any 3rd party engine.

Not just that, I also has proof to be better and faster.

Hey hey, honda and toyota are producing certain models in thailand. For toyota, all smaller cars are coming from thailand. ford is also beginning its production in Philippines. thus for Gen 2, there is no diff , just another car from asean for asean. The Gen 2 prices as advertised are comparable with korean's car but looks better than similarly-priced cars of other brands.

some say Mazda 3 is better than Gen 2 but Mazda 3 is about 10K more exp what. cannot compare this way.

cannot compare this way lah... it's like saying IF BMW318 is the same price as the Altis 1.8... but typical singaporeans go for value of money, for me a kia 1.6 sounds better than a proton 1.6.. their cost quite near somemore...

yea.. if the price of Mazda 3 suddenly drop to 70K, think all those who already own a mazda 3 would really start kicking up a fuss... imagine waking up and ur car juz lost 10K in value haha

First glance on the front view, I feel it kind like Alfha Romeo due to its small weird front lamp. Since so many people said it looks like MZ3, I image toward that way. Think it's reasonable because the side curverature is really kind of close. It will be good to see that Proton are making progress. Obviously, they want to win the market not only depends on cheaper price.

But it is really a funny thinking that the MZ3 owners will kick themselves off just because some other brand copy the shape or an idiot neighour makes a stupid mistake.

bad news abt this car

always trust proton to do these type of shit. a 4-DAY-old gen.2 caught fire. i received an e-mail from my msian friends with a newspaper report and some photos that look like they were taken by a passerby with a camera phone

and yes, heard abt that stupid campro thingy. named campro, but the engine is not campro. what the heck is that? Rolling Eyes

better for this Gen 2 to compete agressively. in that way, other stuck-up and too-expensive cars will be forced to reduce their price.
