Got one listener call in to Class 95 and say that once she
employed an ex convict as an assistant. She needed to go into a
sensitive government building, she was allowed in but her assistant
was not on the grounds that he was an ex convict.
She said, if the government is serious about this project, they are
the ones who should take the lead.
Also, I agree that having "have you committed any crime" or similar
statements in employment forms is discriminatory. If you put "YES"
to that question, you might not even get the interview no matter
how qualified you are.
In the end, it must be balanced up. You should be cautious towards
people not just because he is an ex convict, anyone could harm you,
not just ex convicts. But at the same time, we should be sincere in
our relationship with people. If the law has deemed the person is
free to go, then we should be sincere and be free to work and be
friends with that person.
