Meaningful life.....
Instructions by my guru Khensur Rinpoche
To make the day meaningful, put effort into it.Get up a bit earlier
every morning, make offerings at the altar, do three prostrations
and then generate a pure motivation. One must feel joy and
think,"Not only do I have a precious human rebirth, I have met the
Dharma and the spiritual teacher who teaches the true path." Think
of the great opportunity that you have and then generate the proper
motivation of Bodhicitta. Recite refuge and other prayers. Meditate
for a little while on love, compassion, death and impermanence.
After you have finished your prayers, dedicate for the benefit of
all sentient beings that they may have peace and happiness. Before
you leave for work, generate the motivation that "Today I must use
my life in a meaningful way, to be honest, to benefit others and
not to harm others." Think of this and in your work, be mindful of
the motivation that you have set in the morning. Be honest to
yourself and others. At the end of the day when you come home,
review your day. If you have done what you have committed in the
morning, rejoice and congratulate yourself. If you made some
mistakes; if you had lied or fought with your colleagues, purify
whatever negative karma you have created. When you purify, remember
to include the four opponent powers: First the power of dependence
- taking refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, and generating
Bodhicitta, the altruistic intention which brings happiness for
oneself and others. The second one is the power of regret. The
third is the power of remedy which is the recitation of Vajrasattva
mantra, 35 Buddhas confession practice or any other practice to
make good the negativity one has created. The fourth one is the
power of refraining from creating negativity again. The committment
not to repeat the same mistake is important because if you make a
committment, it keeps you in line with your intentions
