It's okay, you can have this for tea, right? A pot of tea, a chocolate scone, Nutella and clotted cream (anyone who calls it whipped cream will be beaten with a stick)

This is a bit old, but still one of my favourites.

The Fried Chicken Benedict - 1 lb sage fried chicken breast, cheese, omelette, bacon, tomatoes, spinach, melon, mashed potato and buttermilk biscuits smothered in chipotle hollandaise sauce.

Unlike the naan I couldn't finish a few bites of mash and biscuits.

It IS good! I would've finished if Chinese Restaurant Syndrome hadn't kicked in. I had that for my breakfast, and I didn't eat anything else for the rest of that day.

This is a few weeks old, but it's in Singapore! Braised ox tongue at Roadhouse - very tender and lean, and the dressing is quite tomato-tart. They also do a mean monkfish on marscapone and mushy peas.

To find it you have to look past all the chippies and seafood restaurants in that town and seek out this stall by the water's edge:

The guy holding the yellow basket cooked those mussels, and they were fresh, tender and succulent. I was shucking them greedily.

The problem is that people still see 'vegetable ghee' = 'vegetable' = healthy.

And quite a few prata men use Planta margarine, seeing it as 'healthier' than ghee.

Blame it on the 90s, when all we knew then was 'saturated fat = bad' and 'unsaturated fat = good'.

Now trying to tell people that 'some unsaturated fats are trans fats = very bad' is a hard sell.

I'd think that cost is a big reason for them to stick with margarine.

Okay, you can find this locally, but it's only until next weekend - Choucroute garnie, a dish from Alsace that's being served for Oktoberfest. It's supposed to be for two but how difficult can it be to finish one pork knuckle, two 6-inch sausages, slices of roast pork, sauerkraut and roast potatoes?

2 weeks ago, there was a one-pound burger at Spruce...

I tried to conquer it but the carbs got me:

Right now it's even between me and food. I was defeated by this burger, the Fried Chicken Benedict and a B&J ice-cream speed-eating competition, but I cleared out the Oktoberfest platter, the British naan and balti and a 800g Georgian cheese pie.
