I am inclined to blame the education system.
But when I look back at my own education path, I am now more
inclined to blame parents.
Rather than blame the institution for encouraging rote learning,
parents should do a complementary role in guiding the development
of kids by telling them that they can develop outside of the
institution.
The institution is not perfect. It can never be.
It might be focused on grades and so on at the moment. So?
For all the talk about what "holistic testing", "continuous
assessment", I suggest parents should try to be students themselves
to see how it feels to have their theoretical foundations
continually disrupted by all the distractions.
