in this society today, yes, parents doesn't have much choice but
to work.
Everyone fears retrenchments....pple over 40 can't find jobs.
Unless if the sole provider of the family has a good career and pay
package that can "feed" the whole family while providing for
parents, expenses, housing, etc...then YES, a parent might wish to
stay at home to take care of their young.
If not, i seriously do not encourage it. E.g. if I was to stay at
home with my kids, and my husband work. What if suddenly retrench
at 40 yrs old or lose his job? What happens? I won't be able to
find work so easily cos lack of experience. He can't find work
easily because of his age. So who will suffer in the end? The
kids.
I guess that's my view and opinion. If the family can afford it,
yes, they go ahead. If cannot, best to both work.
