Traffic jam on
AYE after Clementi Avenue 6 exit closes due to spilt paint from
lorry
SINGAPORE - White paint that spilled from a lorry along the Ayer
Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Tuesday (Oct 24) caused an exit to be
closed and created traffic congestion from about noon.
The 45-year-old driver of the lorry was issued a summons for
failing to secure goods properly, the police told The Straits
Times.
Footage of the scene at the Clementi Avenue 6 exit on AYE towards
the direction of Tuas shows white paint splattered on the left lane
of the road.
A lorry belonging to freight company Altron Shipping is shown
parked in front of the spilt paint. One lane is cordoned off and
traffic is shown filtering through slowly.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force told ST that it was alerted at
11.55am and dispatched a fire engine.
"We flushed away the paint using one hosereel," said the
spokesman.
The Land Transport Authority first alerted motorists about the
incident at 11.46am.
It said in a tweet that there was an "obstacle" on AYE towards Tuas
at the Clementi Avenue 6 exit, and added at 3.33pm that the exit
was closed.
The police said it received a call for assistance at the sliproad
into Clementi Avenue 6 along AYE towards Tuas at 11.54am.
The spokesman for the police said they advised the male lorry
driver accordingly after issuing him the summons.
