Part of Upper
Changi Road East closed following 'road surface
depression'
SINGAPORE: All three lanes of Upper Changi Road East, in the
direction towards Bedok, were closed following a "road surface
depression" that appeared on Wednesday morning (Jun 15).
According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the road
surface depression appeared at about 9.15am on Wednesday, where
advance works for the Thomson-East Coast MRT line were being
carried out.
The police also sent out a tweet at about 2pm, asking motorists
to use alternative routes.
"To ensure the safety of motorists, all three lanes were closed
to traffic and motorists were diverted to Simei Avenue," LTA said,
adding that road resurfacing works are in progress.
The affected lanes are expected to be reopened later on
Wednesday evening, an LTA spokesperson said. As of 8.15pm, one lane
has been reopened, according to LTA.
