Exactly, that crap. Just because I found out there's a problem
with the Lancers and want to know more about it, that automatically
excludes me from your so called "target segment"?
quote:
Sure, they're different. In terms of price alone, they're
different. Your point being?
My point being they're all still performance cars and
manufactures do not target people who just buy one particular
performance car. Well maybe Mitsubishi does, which is why they are
the only Japanese car manufacturer that aren't showing a
profit.

Hello? A Del Sol is 2 seater, 2WD sporty car from a pretty reliable
manufacturer. In the US, it is something a father would buy for
their daughter when they graduate from high school so that they can
look good cruising down the boulevard. How is that the same target
segment as an Evo? I'm NOT saying you can't make a Del Sol a drag
monster that pulls 9s in the quarter, but that's not my
point.
Then what exaclty is your point? Is it what's mentioned above?
Your idea of a targeted segment is a group of people who are
already driving a car so similar to yours that they aren't going to
bother buying your car?
quote:
I would expect the target segment i.e. automotive enthusiasts, to
be more well-informed than the average Joe who cares only about
whether any particular product which has been recalled, insofar
that if said person is truly an enthusiast, he would find out
within mere minutes (i.e. research) if a Lancer and an Evo are the
same thing.
An automotive enthisiasts can also be an intelligent, informed
buyer. Lots of performance cars in the market. If one isn't as
reliable as it should be, buy another. An enthusiast doesn't have
to be so blindly tied to one particular brand of car that he can't
look past faults in it. Faults major enough to trigger a
recall.
An Evo is basically a Lancer, but there have been significant
changes it in. Seeing how I do not know what the problem with the
Lancer is, how am I supposed to know if whatever it is can also be
found in the Evo?
quote:See above.
yes, see above.
quote:
No one claimed to know everything, so don't even try putting words
in my mouth.
To my knowledge, there have been 3 major recalls for Evos, one
affecting the AYC system for Evo I through IV, an O2 sensor recall
for Evos I through 7, and the other affecting the gear shift
selection mechanism affecting only Evo 8. In the US, there has been
a few recalls where several cars were affected by paint and weight
label, minor issues. Nothing major like crankwalk in the
DSMs.
You don't have to state it. It shows in your replies.
If you only know of those 3 issues, then maybe you aren't as
informed as you think you are. So based on your mindset, you aren't
part of the target segment either.
All this aside, part of the target segment or not. I was only
asking what the problem was. You do not have to come in all smug
and arrogant. If you don't know, or don't want to tell. Just ignore
the post.
