hey there's a question i need to ask you guys abt.

I been looking at different car mags and also at the car list at the last few pages and there's one question i need to ask u all....under Mitsubishi, the top speed for Grandis in Motoring is 180km/h,while in other mags they say it has the top speed of 210km/h Which one is true? 180 or 210km/h, and if it is 210km/h is there a speed limiter for it as the speedometer show onlly 180 as the max?

Speed limiter at 180km/h applies for JDM cars, hence the speedo stop at 180. If the car is produced for the Japanese market, but subsequently exported here, then it would have that limiter. Generally, those produced for export or produced outside Japan would not have it.

Anyways, the limiter can be easily overriden by for eg. an RSM.

Wat's a RSM? and from wat u said, only JDM cars have limiter, then like lets say the Sunny, Lancer and other Japanese car do not have the limiter? or simply to say, JDM means Japanese Domistic Model eg. the Wish right? so other japanese cars meant for all the country do not have the limiter right?

Rev/Speed Meter.

Think JDM means Japan Domestic Market rather than Model. Doesn't matter if it is a sunny or lancer, as long as it is meant to be used in Japan, it would have a limiter. The thing is PIs in Singapore buy cars from Japan factories that were meant for Japan roads. Hence the limiter is there. I guess if you buy an "export model" from Japan, then it may not be there. Toyota and Honda now outsource manufacturing for export markets now, notably to Thailand. Thai models do not have that limiter.

Not sure if C&C's Grandis is JDM or export model. From PIs, you can be quite sure it is JDM...

Is there anyway to remove the rev limiter so pple can ram up to 10000+rpm

But the rpm limiter is set at 8000rpm and u cant exceed that, so dont change gear wont help, it only stay there, i want to find out how to remove the rpm limiter

JDM is Japanese Domestic Make

My Sunny is a JDM from Tan Chong and Sons ... and my speedo is only till 180km/h and my Top change of gears is only at Rpm 6k ... My friemd's Sentra in M'sia is a UDM and have speedo which reads 220km/h and his top rpm change is at 7K lor ...

Must be a performance car for you to want to rev over 8000rpm. The max horsepower and torque are achieved below that rpm for most cars. Think you should ask users of the specific make this question. What super car are you talking about that wants to rev above 10000???

I think he got too much of Initial D AE86 with the changed engine leow Mr. Green

So far the cars i know can rev above the 10k region is the F355 F350 F360 F550 the porshe and of course the AE86 in initial D

no i want to see if normal stock cars like civic can ram to 10000rpm

Then why rotary engine can ram to 13000 rpm ?

yes.. you can rev ANY engine to 12,13... 50 thousand... but how long do you want to keep the car for?? a month??

people tend to overrev an rx7 cos there are less things that can go wrong in a rotatry engine... and WHEN it does... its easier to fix..

besides... a high revving engine may not neccesarily be better than a 6500rpm engine...

u got look at how rotaries work... den u will understand... a twin rotary can rev 3 times the speed of an average cylinder car...
