Chelsea
have admitted they face an uphill task to break even in two years'
time but are refusing to revise their 'ambitious'
target.
The
Blues released their financial results yesterday, which revealed a
record group turnover but also a loss of £74.8million for the year
before June 2007.
That
number is a slight improvement on the previous year, although it is
not as significant as the reduction announced 12 months
ago.
In the
2004-05 season, Chelsea's loss was £140million. It was then slashed
to £80.2million but it has gone down by just seven per cent this
time.
Chelsea
have previously set a target of breaking even by 2009-10 and
becoming a 'self-sustaining' club.
