SINGAPORE: NTUC FairPrice has officially launched its first
elderly- and disabled-friendly store at Lengkok Bahru, the
supermarket chain announced on Wednesday (Dec 2).
The Enabled Store near Redhill will have features such as call
buttons at the entrance and store aisles so that shoppers can ask
for help, magnifying glasses at every aisle to help customers read
product labels, and shelves that are built so that products are
within easy reach.
The store will also sell a more extensive range of supplements
and products with the Healthier Choice symbol, said NTUC FairPrice.
It will sell assistive products such as walking aids as well.
In addition, staff at the Enabled Store are trained to
communicate and serve senior customers better, said NTUC FairPrice.
They have undergone a training programme to understand and
anticipate seniors’ needs and recognise senior-related illnesses
such as dementia. More than 100 staff have received such training,
and another 500 frontline staff will undergo the training programme
in the next two years, said NTUC FairPrice.
The store is located at 20 Lengkok Bahru, #01-13 and it is open
daily from 8am to 9pm.
