A propotionate look car. Outlook doesn't put people off like a super big head lamp Wink Interior... Very basic lah. Nothing fanciful to be expected. One thing I don't like, persenger seat window is manual wind up & down one.. Surprised

The Ignis sport should be a better option but its cost a few grands more...but it comes with recaro seats, sports rims and some other thingies, which might be worth it....

i would prefer the ordinary ignis, cheaper. then month by month add something to it... Very Happy

haha ignis sport is of a different league from the normal ignis surely… small like the normal ignis it may be, but i somehow love the compact racing feel inside(showroom car only la heez). and it’s tuned up rally-style, constructed rally-style. 1500cc compared to the normal 1300cc in the normal ignis. anyway think it’s recaro seats instead of sparco seats.

yep… and it has forged pistons and a sports intake and exhaust.. the normal ignis has a rough engine… then the Ignis sport is lower than the normal one.. and its suspension is tuned for better handling..

dun understand why ignis sport was created.. Suzuki claimed that it was designed to take over the previous Gti. but look at it.. it looks more cute than sporty (ugly but adorable).. poor aero dynamic, bulky and clumsy.. I doubt I can throw a corner successfully in it with confident.. performance wise, suzuki also claimed that the engine comes much stronger than the Gti as the pistons have been enlarged and the cam has been redesigned to cater for higher rev.. but due to the power:weight ratio, the increased power doesn't serve much purpose except to balance up the power lost due to increased weight.. thus an after market turbo is the solution..

anyway, to overcome this problem, a new suzuki will be released in no time - the Suzuki Concept S. no too much information on the car is available yet, thus no comments.. But one thing for sure, it definitely look much better...

but price wise.. it is definitely a good grab in singapore.. the cheapest performance car around.. which other performance car can u get under 60 grand?? with a turbo, n some modification, u get quite a monster out of it..

gosh, with 60 grand, I could be driving a brand new fully modified Evo 8 MR in Hong Kong..

if u'd seen the Suzuki Ignis Sport being driven in the carpark rallies n sprints, u wouldn't be saying "I doubt I can throw a corner successfully in it with confident"

anyways, has the price dropped to 60 grand yet? last i heard it was 79 grand

Not sure if you have tested drive the Ignis Sport car... This car is created by Suzuki to re-join the JWRC after leaving this event for the past couple of years. Imagine this car used almost all the same cars part and body (including the 1.5 engine and suspension) that are used in the WRC rally car... except the following that applied to the WRC car only - the engine is re-bored to produce higher HP and KW, bigger brakes, roof ventilator (just like the STi spec C) and body kit protectors. As WRC focuses many different driving tarrains, Tarmac, Sandy, gravel and snow racing, the Ignis sport must be built to handle all these tested grounds. The old GTi type model with low suspension may not be fitting too well then... tarmac ground only?

The new Ignis Sport 2004 is already out using a bigger and more powerful 1.6 engine producing 160 KW. In the opening race held Jan 04, it has already clocked the 1st and 2nd position.

A good news is that it is now available in a newer and bigger 5 doors version. I hope it could reach to the showroom here soon. Of course the output will be cut by a lot but i believe would be still a fun drivable machine to own Wink

ya, doubt such credibility of the car, that has won a JWRC championship, should be questioned. yea, agree that the concept S rocks… but will such concept cars come into production?

well this is what i heard from a fren who used to sell cars.
3 door cars r sporty. ppl who buy sporty cars are more likely to speed. when u speed, more likely yo have accident. more likely to have accident, insurance premium is higher.
same reasoning for turbo cars.

I guess if you believe Sti / E8 could win in this year WRC again, then the smaller car like an Ignis Sport may has a chance too right in the JWRC? Anyway, the european car maker are becoming more innovative as more years their cars are out of the top 3. Hence competition will be getting stiffer as every car maker will want to make sure they clinch the championship title.

Hence i would say you need not doubt the capability of this small car... just get it for a spin and you could tell the differences

if you read more clearly what i've said, i am actually on the positive side of the ignis sport. sorry for my poor expression which has caused this misunderstanding though Smile
