六扇门 is an excellent China drama, because it's incredibly
realistic : 9 out of 10 characters are all bad guys (putting it
politely), with bad guys plotting against bad guys plotting against
bad guys plotting against bad guys.
A note regarding Korean dramas, moreso than China, Taiwan, Hong
Kong, Japan, or (smirk) especially Singapore TV dramas, 9 out of 10
Korean dramas involve the hapless and helpless man-in-street hero,
struggling against a conspiracy of overwhelming evil and invariably
corrupt powers that be, usually a combination gang of powerful
politicians, police chiefs, heads of government and/or judiciary,
CEOs, billionaires, etc. And of course, what makes these Korean
dramas particularly similarly entertaining, is that the bad guys (6
out of 10 characters) are all plotting against each other as
well.
Gone are the days of oversimplistic good main character vs evil
main character. This is a good development for Dramas, because it
that much more accurately represents real-life. Welcome to physical
incarnation!
