The majority of lowly-paid, hard-labour, foreign workers in Singapore who get seriously injured in workplace accidents (including the true case of losing a finger), only get 1 or 2 days MC, because if the doctor gives an MC of 3 days or more, the workplace accident needs to be reported to the Ministry of Manpower. So the unethical employer orders the unethical doctor to just give 1 or 2 days MC, so the employer gets to keep his safety record clean and also avoid higher insurance premiums in the future. If the doctor hesitates to comply, the employer will threaten to send his foreign workers to other doctors in future, and the doctor loses customers. And it is the abused, lowly-paid, hard-labour foreign worker who suffers in rich prosperous Singapore.

[Singapore] - Generating and spreading toxic carcinogens in the air is just bad karma, religious superstition is no excuse. Singapore air will be toxic, carcinogenic and unbreathable for whole of August.

Such health hazardous practices (especially if done extra unethically and inconsiderately, such as burning in unauthorized places such as by the road, or burning in areas close to residential blocks) will violate the health rights of others, and may cause tension between the different religious groups.

Christians, Muslims and others will be wondering why these people carrying out such environmentally disastrous burnings, a practice that was never suggested, required or condoned by either Lao Zi or the Buddha, or any of deities for that matter.

The government should take proactive steps to safeguard the security of Singapore and the health of Singaporeans.

"He must be stupid, why would anyone do this?" asked one China user.

I was an NUS undergrad once, we came in fresh from NS and I also felt anger being a year older than some girls and Malaysians in Raffles Hall and yet being made to greet them as seniors. Imagine all that sexual tension felt by NUS males, but the feeling of impotence as they have no decent jobs, no sign of a bright future ahead, and no financial security. 20 years ago, there was a story about this ex-Commando who, after being talked down, disrespected, scolded and abused by Malaysian men and women a year younger than him during orientation, eventually lost it and challenged them to a fist fight. I never figured out how the story ended but in the end, all Singaporean NS men in Raffles Hall were given pre-orientation counselling and told that they could walk away anytime. As for me, I walked away after 1 week.
