Getting my family's one soon too.. Just wondering what you guys will advice to coat the new car with... to protect the paintwork and the shine?

Sorry for the late reply. I understand that the 0-100 k/h for the honda city vtec (previous generatn) is 11.2 sec and for Altis is 11.7 sec. I used to smoke other cars on the green light with the city. Need to rev more with the altis for the same effect.

Overall, I find the city noisier (road and wind noise), lighter (feels like floating at 140 km/h) but certainly better at accelerating and better fc. Not so much power though when climbing slope. Before I sold my city, the engine icon was lighted two or three times and there were times I fear it would break down anytime. I heard the Vtec is activated at 4500 rpm (which I only tried once in 3 yrs at M'sia) and is not of much use on Sin roads unless you like to race with the TP.

I am actually satisfied with the Altis, considering my driving habits (max 110 km/h and less than 3000 rpm), its relatively quiet road and wind noise.

u are spot on. the noise did come from the belt and not the headrest as i thot.

Hi relaxjack,

Our previous city is very light, and that is why we used to smoke others at green light. Maybe that is what i miss the most.

Previous city 2000' is very uncomfortable car, i always complaint to friends the roaring engine noise. Sometimes, i think noise insulation was not consider at all when built. Handling is worst. Float at high speed, roll like sampan during corner. The engine vibration can be feel inside cabin, even at idling! . The material(plastic) used is poor(weak joint), rattling noise are everywhere.

But I have to admit that the Vtec engine is good. No matter how hard i drove(40k mileage per year, drove frequent to Penang criuse 140 km/h with 1 stop for refuel only), the engine just never fail. Infact , i got so confident that i rarely check engine coolant and battery water.

Overall City vs Atlis, Atlis is the best car. Most comfortable car compare to all my previous car. And i am proud to own an altis.

I changed K&N filter and I am thinking to change to denso iradium. Thus, i hope gain more power for my altis.

I think you can do the following:

1) Go to One motoring to check out the number of the car exporter & call them to get an idea of how much more are they willing to pay for your car above the scrap value.

2) Make sure tha the scrap value will not be more than the PARF value plus the OMV because the PARF cert can only be used to pay for certain portion of the car price. Check out at One motoring too for the details. You can still breakdown the PARF cert to smaller value and get your friends or relative to use them but would be a hassle.

3) If you can get the SE to do all the things for you and pay you similar or lower by a few hundreds, you should let them do it. The first time I talked to the Toyota SE four months ago, she told me my car is scrap value only. One month ago, I talked to a Nissan SE and she told me she can give me $3K above scrap. When I called an exporter, was told I could get about 3 to 4K depending on the condition of my car if I would go down and let them view the car.

All the above are theory only as I am contemplating of doing this with my 4 year old Sunny which has a $44K COE. Laughing

Borneo Motors has agreed to change the whole steering.
As for the car drifting to the left, they have rectified the problem. Not sure what they do but its cruising straight alright!

Hi Altis owners,
I have driven only 2,500km since collecting the car on 25th March and was wondering if anyone has noticed squeeks or a 'tok tok' noise from front passenger door panel. This is heard when driving over uneven road surfaces.

Also a buzzing sound ie. sounds like something vibrating inside the radio set (can be heard when set is left in off position).
BM has insulated wires for fog lamp and radio, unfortunately they have not solved the problem. Noise is intermittent and irritating.

i was afraid i would scratch the rims, so i bought those small round curve mirrors and i pasted them on the side mirrors..those r normally used for covering blind spots while driving, but i adjusted them to point at my back wheels!!ie..looking at the small mirrors show the back wheel area and the ground..great for parking in tight spots and perfect for avoiding kerbs! you can get those nice adjustable ones from concorde!

how clever. but it takes the space on the side mirrors and makes it very ugly. dun like to stick things there. heh. like v untidy like that.

for those who are thinking of installing the sun film do be careful. A friend of mine had an expensive and popular brand of sun film done about 3 years ago and recently sent his car for LTA routine inspection. Guess what? It failed the transparency test by one pointer!! He had some problem trying to convince the testing centre and was finally let off. What will happen comes the next inspection date 2 years later??

Question: Did the sun film property deteriorate or was it the product did not meet LTA's criteria?

ugly or not is a matter of opinion..so far i feel, i find it ok..not TOO BIG of an ugliness to me and it is more of function over aesthetic.. Cool ..i find SCRATCHED rims uglier!..hehe.. Twisted Evil

Well, I've installed the sun film from Huper Optik. It cost me $800 for the premier package.

Regard sun film LTA approval,

I installed V-cool premiun after collection. LTA rule is 70% visibility for the front and 50% for the rear.
I was also concerned about this rule. So, i asked the boss to use the same type of visibility detector to check on my the front and rear.
Result is front is only 68%, which is fail as it is below the LTA rule. However, later the boss shows me a letter which was a reply from LTA. The letter explained that they give tolerance of -/+5% on the 70% visibility. He added that if LTA does question on this tolerance, he will then bring the letter to the LTA officer. Well, i think V-Cool did their homework before selling for 10 years in singapore. I am satisfact with them.
