Getting my family's one soon too.. Just wondering what you guys will advice to coat the new car with... to protect the paintwork and the shine?

Hi folks,
This is my first posting in here.

I got a very early batch Altis Deluxe and have faced the following problems. Sad

1. Slight rattling sound from the steering column. Sound like the power steering fluid is flowing through the steering mechanism.

2. The driver side door need to slam to shut tight. It door catch mechanism sounds funny when it opens.

3. The power window controls wood panelling is a bit loose. It will squeak when you use your hand to sqeeze on the panel against the leather panel.

Does anyone face this problem, or it is normal for all Altises? I will like to have some feedback before sending the car to BM for rectification. Smile

Oh gosh...when did you got your Altis? I will be getting mine in July..
But think yours still under warrranty, so get BM to remedy all your problems... Good luck man.. Confused

i've got a 1.6l altis that came with the stock 14" sports rims and bridgestone tyres. Cant seem to find the correct typre pressure to inflate them to. can anyone enlighten me?

Yes, same feeling.... I dont like the wood triming.... it's very "loud"... especially, the ones on the doors' side panelling..... that's the main reason I choose to have the standard package......

And, your SE.... really CMI..... my SE..... now she respond very slowly.... mainly becoz she cant make much from me.... low loan.... redeem my car loan and scrap car myself..... but ok lah.... I should be getting my car on 1-3 Jul......

I got mine before CNY. Been driving it for 5 months. I went to BM Sin Ming and they did not fix my problem. The SA told me it is like that.... Sad

The correct pressure is 210 kPa or 2.1 bar or 30 psi. This information is found in the manual.

There should be a sticker indicating the tire pressure by the driver side door also. But mine is missing.

Hi bsl, is this part a major replacement part and takes the whole day for replacement? I'm thinking of bringing down the car for a check sometime this week. Will BM call you when the part arrives?

I understand your pain. At one point of time, i almost drop the idea of buying altis, if it come only with wooden trimmings. I even tried ask my SE to change the wooden trimming to the basic black plastic trimming at my cost, if require.

Those wooden trimming design really subject to personal taste. Frankly, i seriously dislike it. I think it look like Ah-chek too.

Luckily, my SE advice me to buy basic Altis which does not fit with wooden trimming, then change to leather seat.

thanks..there is no sticker on my car as well. was desperately looking for it at all 4 doors, under the hood, in the tyres etc... haha

Hi garth,
to replace the booster brake valve should not take more than 3 hours. However, it's wiser to make an appointment with the BM service dept first. They will inspect and replace the parts if available otherwise will notify you by mail upon receiving the parts from thailand. My previous experience to replace the steering wheel was processed in this sequence. If you are thinking of going to the leng kee service centre, the executive-in-charge is Aaron. Should you encounter any stubborn service officer who gives you lots of excuses, do not hesitate to ask for Aaron. He is very helpful.

Yup..He called me around early June to inform me that i have succeeded in my COE, and that the car should arrive in July if everything goes well....

Totally agreed..Thatz why im now cracking my brains to see if anything can be done to conceal those wooden trimmings (i.e. re-spray if necessary)...coz itz too late for me to revert to the basic package now...haiz haiz

Smile Placed my order in Mid May. The price then was 74,488...but got a $225 rebate from my SE (Pittance huh)... No regrets in changing to mica grey...originally booked mica blue but changed my mind subsequently..haz Razz

hi renoma... u mean BM allow u to change ur color after booking? tot there is a $2k charge for changing colors?

Hi speedy,
We are given a unofficial 3-day "window" to change our color choice after booking. I made the decision to change on the 3rd day and sent them a fax on making the switch... which is FOC.

However, was told by my SE that any subsequent chnage, i will have to fork out $2k....

Managed to locate a workshop in S'pore that will help you re-spray your interior panel at a cost of $300-$400 (depending on design).. There's metallic sliver, mica blue etc etc... It will take a total of 4 days for the whole process, though...
Depends on indv, esp those who detest the "fake" wooden trimmings.. but one word of caution, not sure whether this will affect the re-sale in any way...

i just came from malaysia yesterday. drove 800km altogether. did not really drive fast enuf to stretch my 1.6l altis. max i reached was 140 km/h. but still felt quite stable at that speed except when there were strong winds, then had to be very careful with the steering which is quite sensitive. noise level ok. had to turn on the ECT mode all the time for power during overtaking. otherwise the pickup is not good enuf on malaysian roads.

altis is not a common car in malaysia. saw only abt 5 malaysian altis during my 4-day stay. saw a 1.8l spore altis too. my FC is abt 14 km/l in malayisa. the ride is confortable overall.
