Getting my family's one soon too.. Just wondering what you guys will advice to coat the new car with... to protect the paintwork and the shine?

I just changed mine to 15" at Lee Beng Tyres for $820. The 15" inch rim is Taiwan made and the tyres are Yokohama Aspec DB.

Harlow all,

Another new Altis owner. Colected 1.6 in early Feb. Met Silver, factory sepc, no mods.

Overall, a very good ride. Door closes very very well. I suggest you compare with other makes, esp Mit, to compare. Dun flame, this is personal preference. Finishing is good. The feel is not so bare / basic.

Currently FC for 1st tank is 10.6, 2nd is 12.4, 3rd is 12.1 km/L. No complaints except that there is a very very very slight squeaking noise coming from dashboard when going over bumps at higher speeds. very very slight, but still bothers me ..

Also believe they did not tighten something for passenger car seat when they changed to leather .. coz sometimes can hear the rattling noise when going over bumps again.

Overall, very luxuious ride .... happy so far, except maybe could have more power, except that I always all my cars always had more power ...

Mine is abt 12km/l now. Just changed to 15" rim with Yokohama Aspec DB tires and going to drive up to Penang this saturday. Will post the FC for travelling along NS highway when back.

yeah this point must agree.. the more i drive the smoother the car gets.. but its seems like there is some prob with my door.. i have to close it pretty hard to see it shut.. i tested my friends and it seems like when i gently push, the door seem to have some magnetic grip to close the door.. which is the more normal one?

Understand that Altis is one of the popular cars to be stolen in malaysia. Anybody has put in extra security measures that what is currently available/given by BM?

BM only provide immobiliser and alarm? No cabin sensor?

Smile Check the black rubber lining. it could be sticking to the door that feels like magnetic. overall the 'thum' sound when door closing feels good./

booked a silver altis early feb 04. by the way, how long does it take before you collect your new car? how soon will BM bid for your COE upon receipt of your booking?

Mad Hate to say this, well, those early bird Altis owners will feel short change cause U are getting old stock dump by thai factory, the newer model with a more sporty exterior look and better interior is already up and running in the land of smile. Answering the challenge of the new Mazda3.

Only really totally secure measure is not to go.

Maybe try steering lock etc, or park some where busy etc . Suppose if u "suay suay" encounter professional, also no use ...... and very troublesome to use these additional locks .....

prevention is the best policy ......good luck .....

1) is there a very big difference between the 1.6 n 1.8 version?
2) which version will u guys recommend n why.
3) wat r the prices of 1.6 n 1.8 version respectively?

Hi all Altis owners,
Here are 2 pics which I took for my car for the Singtel Charity Drive to Penang. The journey is damn long and tiring but it was fun.
Some experiences to share with you all abt driving the Altis.
1) I clocked 462km at half tank at 120km/h.
2) Upon driving up to penang, the car doesn't have that stable feeling when I'm driving at 120-130 km/h. The steering starts to vibrates. After 1 hr or so, it starts to get stable and smoother.
3) The max speed I tried was 155km/h (at abt 3600rpm). My wife said that it's too fast, so I reduced to 120-130km/h.
4) On my way back from Penang, I was doing at 130-140km/h. The car just gets better, the engine noise isn't to loud but the wind noise is. The handling is good. Glad that I bought the Altis.
5) Overall, I clocked abt 1600km for the whole trip. Now can go for the 5000km servicing.

There's 2 new color for Altis. Coal Black (grey) and Cosmo Red.
Anyone booked and received these colors yet?

Currently the Champagn Gold is the most common color i see on the roads.

if there are scratches on the car, will do something to it during servicing? coz i notice a minor scratch on the roof of my car.. Sad Sad Sad might be doing of some birds, twigs or watever...

booked a red one.. but hasnt come yet... dunno whether the agent managed to get my COE in today's bid. o wells.. usually wats the waitin time to get the COE ah.. heard the COE rose again eh.
how long did it take for u pple to get ur cars after downpayment??
i wonder how long more i haf to wait!!!

btw, the showroom doesnt give the GREY color.. wanted that color but they dont have it ... only the pamphlet has GREY so not sure whether its out yet.
anyway cant wait to join u guys on the roads wif my altis!!!
but dunno when den can get....... ahhhhhhhh... long wait.
