Getting my family's one soon too.. Just wondering what you guys will advice to coat the new car with... to protect the paintwork and the shine?

wow, sure like dat want..... 1 week alreadi u can see the yellowish stain on especially the wheel area..... then hor, still need to remove some tough stain over many minor areas as u wash the car..... coz white make it more obvious....

But after that, total satisfaction.... no a trace of mah-ta-chai..... coz ours got fog like, much more beautiful......

just saturday, I wash again..... but sunday, drive pass shanton way, pass over a paddle of muddy water..... so heart pain!!! wanted to wash again!!!

wah ghee, if u want yr altis in tip-top colour, looks like u'll hv to spend yr week-end washing and polishing Laughing wonder how long this enthusiasm will last. Wink

my Black ALTIS main fear is "swirl" marks on the body....it is most prominent on dark coloured cars especially black.

so to wash it also need TLC, to dry it also TLC. hahaha.... but i still enjoy keepin it nice n sparkling shiny.

wash average once a weekend.... wax n claybar bi-monthly, sent out for full grooming bi-monthly alternating between my wax and professional groom.

i agree that the stock mats provided are very difficult to keep clean and dry if u wash it with water. so i have since kept them in cold storage. using 3M mats now hahaha....

mine is silver…very easy to maintain…dirty also difficult to see unless u see up-close. i send to wash twice a month.

Ghee, i also doubt your TLC kinda treatment would last very long. Its always the case you tend to shower your love for a new car. With due respect to all the ladies owners of altis. Its just like having a new gf....hehehe.

After a while, it'll all go back to normal. Of course, sometimes you'll still wash it by yourself.

Btw, singapore kinda weather why bother to wash n wash day in day out. Just drive it to car wash n get it done 20mins. Save time for you n your family better.

As for concern about dirt eating into paint work or white colour turning yellowish. Can always go for a laying of spray work done after 2-3yrs down the road. Coz i'll bet new paint work its always better n much better than spending your $$ on grooming work. (Guess those grooming ppl will hate me) Rolling Eyes

haa haa haa....last time my silver car...I also wash at least once a week by myself..... for 4yrs.....til it's scrap recently.....

while u wash, u can go through the car..... check the oil all those....then can check brake pad if they are thinning, the tyres, the beltings etc......top up battery water, water for windscreen washer......

then happy, go up and later do for a ride...... nothing beat having a clean car.... like my friend always feel.....

when u car is dirty, u are itchy to go and wash it..... haa haa haa

actually my TLC has been with me for my past cars....i have been pretty dedicated as i enjoy admiring the number of dings and dents caused by mr taxi, mr commercial driver and all the other mr inconsiderate's Very Happy

thus my zest to wash at least once a week is always ongoing...gives me a chance to check tyre condition, etc....i take it as a form of enjoyment and relaxation after work.....

dunno leh.... i like to leave all the hassle for workshops n car wash centre. Think tats why they exist. Then i can spend quality time with my family n friends. Maybe i'm 'boh chap'. Mr. Green

Anyone change the 'sotong head' yet? Will it void the warranty?
Btw, can someone tell me how long is the warranty period? I'm too engrossed in viewing the car till not listening to details stuffs...hehehe Embarassed

warranty is 3years or 100000km whichever comes first. highly likely the change of the "sotong" head will result in your warranty being void.

i have not change it on an auto car before (my 1st auto car)....but it did yield results in my previous rides, coupled with a small increase in diameter of the "discharge pipe" for the gases.....

my guess is, it will still improve regardless of it being a 4/2/1 or a 4/3/1 but the gains will not be comperative with a manual car.

Jlow, my SE called me yday too he said i can get the car next wednesday Very Happy but i am in a dilemma coz i got biz trip the following monday for 2 weeks so thinking of defering my collection date. *sigh* so anxious for the car but now got to think of ways to defer. :p

aiyoh, after waiting for so long and now this ah? you can still keep the car with bm until u come back. the only thing is the registration nbr will increase. now i heard it's 3-digit and the fig goes up to 1000 per week so hopefully by the time you come back and collect yr car, it's not in the 4000 serie if you are 'pang tang' about the nbrs. i'm trying to avoid that. Razz

Placed order for Grey Altis on 3 July and will be collecting on 23 July. Got Registration number from LTA (SFL6xx) today...cannot wait for the next 3 days to pass Very Happy

Will it be still good to use spitfire plug w/o the upgraded sotong head?

Number starting with 4xxx can be auspicious too.
E.G. 44xx, 444x, 4444, etc. Coz double 4 = double happiness in mandarin (Shuang xi)
So dont worry too much, as long can 'tio' 4D its all nice numbers. Mr. Green

Frankanstein, when did BM send yr altis for registeration? I was told as of yesterday, the nbr was SFL2xx something so how come yr is SFL6xx? If you are collecting yrs on 23 July, then fm next week, the nbr shud be in the 1000 range.

Also yesterday.....I guess there were a lot of numbers between 2xx and 6xx that were taken up during the bidding exercise....additionally, I would expect about 1,000 cars to be registered every week hence you are right to say next week will be in the 1xxx series....do not think you will hit 10xx as the 8xx and 9xx are probably taken up by people who have bidded.

Yeah, every week, there are more than 1000 cars registered every week. I will ask my SE to register mine only next week coz I prefer a 4-digit nbr plate, reason being, easier to place 4-bets! Laughing coz 3-digit nbr, u would need to add a zero either in front or behind the nbr to buy 4-D.
