Hi, not all vvti engines are intelligent. You are right, the
1.6L which we are all driving is not a learning ECU, thus not so
intelligent. The 1.8L version comes with a learning ECU, which
adapts to our driving patterns. That probably explains your lack of
response on the accelerator.
Also, from what i have noticed, when you expect the tranny to do a
downshift from 4th gear, your vehicle speed should drop below
60km/h with rpm below 2k, it would do an automatic downshift.
To make your accelerator abit more sensitive, try to tighten the
cable to not have any slack.
