From my observation, there ae 2 types of org / individuals which
do car renting services.
1. Car rental companies
2. Individual which rent out the car (we call them non-companies
here)
Car rental companies are more strict to their policies min 22 yrs
and at least 1 year driving experience. Most of the things will be
stated in b&w including the charges, excess (amt u have to pay
shd u get into an accident), etc
Non companies are usually more flexible (some dun check for age/
min driving license- just have a driving licence will do). The
problem comes with it is usually the excess which the non-companies
might ask you to cover most / all the damage if insurance companies
don't pay. So you really have to check the contract (if there is
any) carefully.
I have rented car from car rental companies before and average
price for a 1.6 car is about $70 - $90+ / day
Non companies can be found at newspaper classified (vehicle for
hire) and probably on online auctions too. Average price from what
I observed is around $50 - $70 / day. Slightly cheaper. I have not
tried non-companies yet, the above was told to me by my friend who
experienced it.
