Manual Auto: Can adapt.

Auto Manual: Cannot Adapt. U are stuck at auto. Lazy to switch back.

To be honest, the people I know who changed from manual to auto, at first got complains, saying makes you lazy lah, left leg no use -> become easily cramp lah, easy until fall asleep lah, etc etc etc....

But after awhile, you will see them happily driving auto, and ask them to drive manual, they will say 'no thanks!'

Oh no, auto seems addictive.

But I agree. Tried out the S40 for a few times. Oh god, it's so easy to milk all the available power from it, just floor it. Unlike manual.

Precisely, my parents bought auto because the car had no manual transmission as an option. They have been driving manual cars for donkey years and after this first auto car, they dun want to drive manual cars liao. All the 20 over years of experience of driving manual cars are gone once the auto car kicked in. I felt some sort of justice has to be done...

Then again, have to look at the S40 as an overall package, good engine, good transmission, good drive.

I tried a fast get off from 1st gear on my dad's Picanto, I think I'm far from the perfect getaway. It'll take me YEARS to get it.

And now I do believe you need great talent for good clutch control.

Added: Yeah, the S40 has a 5-speeder from Aisin. And it's adaptive, hence it adapted to my uncle's habit of chionging and it LOVES to downshift. I still remember when my uncle first collected it, it's rather lazy to downshift. But after 6 months, your right foot just as much as twitch a little, it'll do a downshift. Twitch too much and it might drop two cogs. Talking about being adaptive.

For those who like the feel of driving manual cars but yet hates to step the clutch, some cars do have paddle shifters or tiptronic gears to keep the feel going. Expensive to maintain though...

Nothing to do with power mah, it's all about controlling the clutch. Pop it too fast and you'll stall, too slow and you won't be fast enough.

But if you're seriously asking, there's 64 miserable looking little ponies under the bonnet of the Picanto. But recently these 64 ponies have been high on V-POWER YO! They might transform into horses soon.

Hmmmmm, very GOOD question.

There might a be a little difference. A bit more powerful, and I can now upshift a little earlier in any gears with much reduced horrible shudders. Or maybe it's all just my mind playing games with me.

But me and my dad decided to pump V-Power with a hint of skeptism. And end up we were both happy with the better performance. So I think it does work, but not that significant a change.

What I'm really interested to try are the RON99 fuel sold in UK. Motorists there said it made a huge difference as compared to 98.

Or maybe I mod it to run E85 ethanol fuel. It's rumoured to be around RON115.
