i thot our PM already voice his regret on not informing you and train you to face globlisation in the early years, Singaporean like you should not keep expec...

Yes, i know what you people are talking. Through my experience I find most of these are from China. It is a waste of time to be served by particularly China Chinese who are not willing to speak to customers in English. My Malay friend is frustrated as she comes across too many of China Chinese from this category.

Junyang700 SG

Yeah... and they are giving local Singaporean Chinese a very bad name here too... =X

Even myself as a local Chinese here hates the fact that those PRCs refuse to learn the slightest local lingo here... assuming that their Chinese standard is better and give you a stupid and rude "HARRRR!!!! WHAT YOU TALKING!!!" and those "Can you speak Mandarin please...

I hate this..... especially when you order bubble tea..... Blue Coral Milk Tea.. and they give you Blue Coral Snowshake.... or they give you the wrong flavour.... =X

And those stupid PRC cashiers and service staff busy counting the money in the till and do not bother or wait for a Singaporean staff to serve you. =X

hasene SG

They think they are big and their China is top in the world so much so that they expect us regardless of race to speak to them in Mandarin. As a local Chinese of course I can speak Mandarin but many times I refuse to because I don't want to condone their way of refusal to speak English to serve customers.

I hope our local people from other race can differentiate between local and PRC Chinese.

Yup... Its extremely irritating.... how can you have service staff that does not try to understand the language that you are trying to convey... somemore... English is a working language and they should know how to speak before they are even giving working passes to begin with....

And at the very least if you dunno.... the basic few words related to the things you are selling... For example, a waitress or waiter should know what a plate is.... know what napkin means... those selling bubble tea should know what is the difference between a milk tea and a snowshake....

If really dunno, at least do the due courtesy to apologise first before requesting the customer to speak Mandarin... instead of crudely saying SPEAK MANDARIN... in an abusive tone.

hasene SG

I agree.

I was in WAtson and as usual met PRC Chinese who refused to speak to me in English tried her best to sell me products. I was politely telling her that she is in the customer service line thus should learn to speak English which is the working language in Singapore. There was this Malay Watsons staff who instead of encouraging the PRC to speak to customers in English told me to speak to PRC in Chinese. I told her there was no need to condone the refusal of the PRC Chinese in speaking English, the Malay staff did not look pleased. I think the service staff in Singapore generally have bad attitude and think that customers must meet their needs instead of them meeting the needs of Singaporeans.

Anyway, think PAP just simply cannot be bothered by theproblems bring about by these PRCs and continue to encourage them to invade our land.

Just dun buy the product from her. =)

I did not buy any product from her. Before I left her alone I gave her a piece of my mind. Any way, besides her refusal to speak English she was demonstrating bad customer service.

Sad, we have a ruling party who only cares about their own needs by "importing" all these not up to standard type of foreigners to our land. Everyone of us needs to do our part for a better tomorrow for all.

Actually from what I encountered, majority of the PRC Chinese in the service line do know how to speak simple English, if not how do they communicate with the non Chinese customers?

But if you are a Chinese and you speak to them in English, they will see you no up because in their minds, you are a Chinese but you don't speak Chinese is a big disgrace.

中国人: 你们是新加坡华人但不讲华语？真好笑！

Yes, a number of times I heard the sickening PRC Chinese giving bad comments about local Chinese. They are very unhappy that local Chinese are not or refuse to use Mandarin to communicate among themselves. Really, I see no big deal about pleasing them to speak to them in Mandarin. Will speak Mandarin to those nice ones.

In Rome, do what the Romans do. These sickos fail to realise and accept this. They just want to insist their way. I am surprised that our local govt is not having any words to say about this at all. They are so biased and so into their favour.

Of course, our government is sucking up to China all because of one old man, that's why they turn a blind eye to these social problems.

at the end of the day the main question is still how many is enough? I think there is a great different of opinon in the final numbers.

Once in PP a china girl mistook my ice-cream for a coke though, I remember that.

But when it comes to our road, They can reach the required destination quite fast though. That is what I like about them.

Continue to be blindside by colors and race.

If you want to think that way up to you. I'm done here.

why would this be what i "Think" the fact remain that recent survey already reported that Singaporeans are concerned with social cohersiveness.

The hint sight of this survey reflected that there are actually "Singaporean Opinon" outside Race.

Only government continue to divide its social demographic to weaken opposition. Infact it is perharps timely to start closer look at "Singaporean identity" outside the tradition boundary of ethnicity and religion.

angel7030 SG

Time changes, dun expect things to be the same same as always, if you cannot fit or beat the changes, join them, start to learn Chinese or higher chinese.

angel7030 SG

more foreigners coming, I hope more come. then one fine day, singaporeans get fed up and vote for opposition, but I still see PAP formning goverment, but can at least made them lose 1 GRC's and maybe 3-4 single seats, that will be earth shattering news, as it never happened in the history of singapore before.

History also never said that there will be a PAP governing Singapore, do not take bewilderment on changes, it will come naturally, PAP is not going to last forever, that is for sure, but on how it changes and how other take over, it going to be interesting, but i guess, once PAP lost out, I would had packed my 2 big samsonite bags and on my way back and out of here. In the meantime, enjoy while it last. Cheers

And now you know why SM Goh said to the PR, become citizens or no more PR for you, because after this election, they know that most local singaporeans will start to change toward opposition, so they need to get those PR into citizenship so as to get votes from them. Hope everything is clear now

dotaro SG

Seriously, if Singaporeans don't stick together and do something for their country, rather then feeling anxiety, then scared, then vote for incumbent, this country is doomed. Do you want your children, who will be supporting you in the next 50 years, be subjected to betrayal as per below?

Please, do something Singaporeans.
