Indeed, HDB had built an extra room for old flats.
Angel7030's words have to be taken with a pinch of salt as her
words are made usually with a sense of fun.
May I know where are these old flats that HDB had added extra
balconcies for drying colthes then ?
It is true that the government will subsidize part of the cost
of upgrading be it for an extra room or an extra balcony for drying
clothes, the residents of the 1-room, 2-room and 3-room HDB flats
still have to bear the cost by payment from cash and/or their CPF
balance. These people are hardly making enough to meet their
ends and their CPF balances are low. These people have already
difficulties in making their monthly instalments using their CPF
balance and/or cash to HDB and yet now you want to add heavier
financial burden on them by building a balcony for drying clothes
to which they don't really need ?
one of my worker (washing lady) lives in Boon Lay 3 rooms with
upgraded extension of living room+ balcony+ a sliding door in
between (make it look like condo style) , the upgrading was
done in somewhere 2004, cost was 16k, resident paid 6k full or by
installment without interest, govt sponsor 10k. She said, at first
the showroom shown a big balcony, but later upgrade already, look
very small, she said it is good for drying cloth, but rainy days,
water also can come in, and if you dun collect your clothing, it
get wet, and also the wall get eroded easily, need to paint often.
Check it out..!!
