Graffiti can be an art or vandalism. There are also laws in
democratic countries to curb graffiti crimes. Singapores loan
sharks pour paints on house doors. Thats also a vandalism. I would
say its not very common in the west. Singapore also has its fair
share of heinous crimes. Heard of an Indian murdered and cooked in
curry? If the victim were a Chinese, he would probably have had his
ears severed and cooked in oyster sauce.
Back to human rights. Our labour laws do not offer adequate
protection to the employees. Our criminal laws are amended to serve
and to protect those in power. On the other hand, punishment for
criminals is too severe. A paedophile was sentenced to 40 years
imprisonment. A few years later, the sentence was deemed too
ridiculous and was reduced to 20.
Democracy is opposed by those who insist that decisions governing
the community should be in the hands of a select group special
interests who believe that they have the skills, the right, or the
mandate to do for others rather than letting them do for
themselves.
He who opposes democracy
1. is afraid of losing his position, and his decisions are affected
by this fear
2. tries to rise above the rule of law, though he may give lip
service to the law
3. does not accept criticism
4. cannot be called to account for his actions
5. does not listen to advice from those who do not curry favor with
him
6. tries to prevent those who disagree with him from participating
in politics
The ultimate purpose of real democracy is to oppose and avoid
tyranny.
