pearlie27 SG That's true but in most cases it is because they can't afford it. Where do i get the 90% from? Can't remember but will check it up later.
NotFromVenus SG With no means to create Jobs, the poor cannot but rely on the rich. If one of the poor becomes smart and gather the other poor people to provide the special service, the rich quickly gets more poorer people to provide the same services. End up the poor people will not become rich. (power and poor people management system)
gorby107 SG I think most of the youths are just concerned in their daily lives and not with the current situation that is happening in our country and the world. This is quite worrying as this will also affect them when they are out in the society, they are not taught on how to deal with hardships or working with people. This may put them at a disadvantage. They feel that the PAP government is able to help them out to get them out of a crisis when there is one. This is due that they put their priority on their studies as this will determine on their future. The way we study is meaningless where we will absorb like mad and store it in a cylinder, and pour it away once the exams are over.
LazerLordz SG For those of you who think our youth have it good, have not really left this country and stayed/worked abroad for a bit.
Fingolfin_Noldor SG I find it fascinating when people blame the youth for all manners of problems, when it is the system, and the parents who condition the kids in this manner and this is but the outcome of this... social experiment called Singapore. So when the outcome wasn't how they wanted it to be, they cast aside their children, just as people of the past would cast aside disfigured children, or even females. How quaint.
Where Is God SG And how do you know that it is true for most cases? How much is most? Where did you this figure?
bangkokboy SG But ranting against a point that hits a sore spot with the general populace is not really being self-absorbed are we Mushroom? Is it through our laziness that the GST is raised, that our CPF pushed back? A sweeping statement I would dare say. Rather, I would direct the accusation back at you. You are the self-absorbed one defending blindly all the government's decision, ranting about every point brought out. Yes I agree we can exchange some of our losers for these Chinese students, but how do we define losers? Maybe you can be a good example of one?
bangkokboy SG Originally posted by hloc: Long time no hear from you..... What we have.... is a branch of 'Arm Chair' leader with ideas to change the world but no guts or will to do it. I WANT TO MIGRATE There Problem Solve Ah hloc, whoever mentioned such grand thoughts of changing the world? I really do not see how posting our VIEWS on how the annuity and various other silly government ideas can be VIEWED as changing the world? Who was the one who mentioned that alternative views have the right to be posted in forums for open discussion? I really hope you were not the one, because you seem to be openly contradicting yourself if you really happened to be the one. And who are you to pity all the youths in the world when you have barely stepped out of Singapore, all you did was take a short vacation I dare wager. All the mess in the world are not due to the work of ''arm chair leaders'' that I can assure you, or perhaps you can provide evidences that ''arm chair' leaders'' are the cause of the many problems that societies and humanity are facing?
maurizio13 SG Hehehe...... Seems like all the P4P supporters think that all the opposition supporters in here are Ministers, they have the ability to change policies if they want to.
Fingolfin_Noldor SG Every time I come across a PAP supporter who consistently comes along and say we ought not to be ranting about this and that and accuses us being lazy, I wonder if they themselves have actually talked to the students at the universities who, excepting the occasional miscreant, studies and works hard to score well. You then next have to wonder if there is a certain disconnect, deliberate or otherwise with regard to how they treat their own fellow Singaporeans; whether they realise they are coming across as self-absorbed arrogant fools. Alas, these same supporters will always prefer pliant sheep, or wolves in sheep clothing whatever, who will just do what they are told to do without any word of dissent. However, they as usual have an inflated self-worth. Many of these Chinese students are likely to seek elsewhere for better prospects, using Singapore as a spring board. State resources which could be used to benefit students who need those resources to get a leg up in society can't get those resources. It is sometimes fascinating to read the mind of the enemy to understand his modus operandi and then defeat it.

hloc SG No choice lah.... aim low would fall down so hard. Aim too high the disappointment is higher.
hloc SG Waiting for you lor.... doing it like the PAP way, Shut everyone up as long as the view is difference from yours..... Still waiting....
AndrewPKYap SG For S$80K you can buy a freehold apartment in downtown Bangkok and so you should also ask why the construction cost S$80K so much? Maybe the contractors were being "generous" when they give the S$80K figure? Are the youths taking things for granted or frightened into submission and told to stop thinking?
AndrewPKYap SG So you openly admit that you are aiming at the lowest point and want to drag everyone into the drain with you? There is a difference when people (like "Where Is God") ask you to shut up because you are talking rubbish (or as "Where Is God" puts it, indulge in fallacies) as everyone can see and when people (the dishonorable people) ask their critics to shut up because they are talking too much sense in their criticisms.
hloc SG Well AndrewPKYap.... what to do. Still waiting for a good leader to lead and motive me. But all I find here are a branch of ppl who sit around KPKB. Like you say earlier..... you have no intention to run for office. But I agree with you lah..... SAFER to be a ARM CHAIR Critic. Yawn..... but sadly..... tomorr will still be the same.
