What prompted me to accuse you of criticising the views of others draws from your harsh worded reply to superpropap. Does he have the gift of foresight, enabling him to foresee PAP's changes? I certainly do not think so.

He was only airing his disgust and yet you told him he was dumb enough to vote for the PAP based on what he had seen the PAP done IN THE PAST. I am actually quite disgusted by your statement.

I admitted when I 1st started on this forum that all I want is to live my life. I don't want to get invol on any side. After all those PAP bashing speeches ever said here, did any member here ever done more than just fault finding Question

I may have only been to Holiday overseas..... but those child beggar in the steets of thailand or indonesia will still be there.

Whats so bad being a S'porean Youth.....

Most have the Lastest Gizmos like H/P or MP3s....
Most doen't have to be hungry anytime in their lives...
Some grown up having a maid to fetch for them. (while the maids themselve are also youth from other countries)
Most if not all will never be shot at by a gun while playing football (the UK thingy)
Most if not all will have a chance of an education with is base on their own capablitily to study.... not on race or class in society.

Again I ask whats so bad about being a S'porean youth Question

You know, there might be a greater chance of the government sitting up and taking notice if the MAJORITY of the people criticise the government. Yet here we have someone like you who is disappointed with the broken promises by the government, but yet go around attacking those airing their disappointment.

I think you misread... he said he voted for the government since he liked PAP all along. That is the reason why I was questioning the reason you lambasted him.

Fault finding or airing of grievances, that is clearly a thin line my dear friend. Should everyone just keep quiet, going on their daily life accepting everything thrown at them?

Seriously, if sharing the alternative views with other users is not considered an action I don't know what is. Like a movie critic, we can choose to heed or ignore his reviews, there is a CHOICE but at least we see and know another person's point of view. It makes us THINK.

I have nothing bad to conclude about the life of Singaporean youths, but the issue I have here is your comment on armchair critics. Are you telling all the movie critics in the world to start campaigning or protesting everytime there is a good/bad movie?

No. Their role is to inform and discuss, it's up to the reader to decide.

I don't think he was looking for anyone to comfort him. Urban legends exist for a reason, why do you think people still bring up the question of the serial numbers on voting tabs if they have no doubts on the validity of it? Surely it's because their doubts are still unresolved.

Why do you think his choice is without careful thought? I read his post and it clearly states that he has been to political rallies and heard both sides. Are you telling him that he should get a written by the both sides of the camp and analyse it, coupled with every single report and comments from political analyst and to top it all consult a fortune-teller before casting his vote?

It's not so much on me nit-picking, but because I myself don't see myself being actively partaking in the political scene, but that doesn't mean I cannot do my part on giving alternative views and comments.

Thus please do refrain from urging others to ''take up arms'' when all they need to do is to ''press a button''.

Fallacy number 1 of P4P supporters here.

Everyone that makes their views heard in sgForums wants to be a politician.

These days, the P4P are clamping down on cyber alternative views so much, they have to resort to this argument and their so called golden statement.

"No Action, Talk Only"

In that case, they should change this to sgActions, instead of sgForums, else it is very misleading. Then change Speaker's Corner to Action Corner.

Forum: an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest.

If one's policies are strong, it will not incur unhappiness amongst the populace. They should not fear discussion, unless the policies are flawed, then they will suppress discussion to prevent more people from knowing it.

Yes I would not deny being an Armchair Warrior. Not that it's a bad thing I hope? Confused

Neither am I questioning whether Singaporean youths are GENERALLY having a good life, cause most of our youths are having it good BUT it's wrong if we start comparing to non-privileged youths in third-world and developing nations like some of us are starting to do.

Think we also have to question the sanity of some who insist that, they are taking 3-4 millions in terms of salary, we should give them 3-4 billions in salary because they deserve it for the work they have done.

This, I disagree....... I like to count my blessing. Whatever stress our youth is going through..... some other youth is also suffering from it.... around the World.

Non-privileged youths in third-world suffer from wars and famine.
First-world youth suffers from stress in a winner take all society..... u failed.... too bad for you.

To compare will remind those who thinks life is unfair... that some other isn't having a better day also. We could only shield the youth from the reality of life for so long..... then they will have to face it.

True we are indeed much more fortunate than many around the globe

But I think that Andrew was trying to point out that many of the ''problems'' faced by our youths are created by systems. And systems are created by bodies. And surely everyone knows who these bodies are.
