And to compound matters further, one ought to realise that Singapore's over-inflated property prices, for most parts, are effectively a lease. Unlike home ownership in most parts, the property is yours for eternity (at least, on paper it is)...

I have the same experience, and the few ICT have been good break for me from the hectic travelling schedule.

Such kind of comments is against the flow indeed, more so in this forum. Laughing

I just witnessed the POP of my cousin in tekong two weeks ago, and noticed that the morale of the young men were very high, even their parents were visibly very proud of them, among them were some migrants from HK and China, from their accents!! The men really enjoyed their time together. What is even more encouraging is that many of them, a lot of them, were actually looking forward to going to OCS in their next posting Surprised !!

They are just young and have alot to look forward to life. I won't burst their bubble . Ultimately one day , one has to choose one's paths in life and if they do well in Singapore, good for them.

these young people are from the April JC batch. They are young, fit, well educated. Their hope in the future lies in their youth, they education, their vision, not PAP and not even Singapore. Many will stay in Singapore and do their Uni, many go overseas. THERE IS NO BUBBLE HERE! where they stay is their choice, how successful they become later depend on their effort and may be some luck. They don't have to be successful in Singapore, there are a lot more opportunities out there, because they are young. They are at the best part of their life, MIND NOT CORRUPTED WITH POLITICS!

Not directing at anybody in particular, those who didn't enjoy, have no interesting experience, never made any good friends during NS, will have to ask yourself if you enjoy anything else you do. If not, better start to learn how to enjoy life, wherever you are. Leaving wife and children in Singapore and stay in a distant place is not an enjoyment in life, even if you have two families. Mr. Green while you scold PAP, screw Singapore, curse LKY, run down singaporeans, hope you have joy from the bottom of your heart. If you are just venting your you anger, spilling your bitterness, make sure you enjoy the after taste. Very Happy

Are you sure that 150,000 migrated? According to what I read, the 150,000 is inclusive of people working and studying overseas, do you consider that as migrated?

Correct 100% sure cause it is being announced by a minister. Which information u got these 150000 local s included those studing n working

in other countries? As a matter of fact, those studying n working in other countries could also have the right not to come back to here
Is there any rules stipulating local in other countries have to come back to live?
This is globalization ruling. U should ask a question: What is the main reason they migrated?
It sounded as though u have someting against people migrating.

b) Seeking overseas education or having a overseas posting is different from migrating

c) nothing against people who migrate, I only have issue with people distorting figure and facts in this forums

a) I will read it once again but to assure u, correct on the immigration figure among local is deifinitely high n is a worry factor to the govt.

b) U partially correct but the govt is also worried about chances of them not coming back is also high n for ur information, they also can apply for PR when they studying or wokring in other countries. Smile

c) U shoudl not bother correcting them since this will only increase ur blood pressure.

I read some of the PR still retain their original citizenship after serving NS.

Well..some Sillyporeans maintain dual citizenship...that's the risk they take...as for me, I'd rather cash out which I have already done...

I would also tell my PR friends here that its not worth being citizens here and they agree....too much hassle and they rather enjoy the benefits as a PR...
since the gahmen has already created distinctions between PR and citizen...good luck to them

Where I am, there is no distinction between PRs & citizens...except that we can't vote or hold office....which is perfectly acceptable.....and everything else is the same for PRs and citizens...how nice
