Public transport? In the Cities? I could pay just 2.50 to travel to San Francisco Airport from one of the adjacent towns. It's 76USD for 30day unlimited ride on the train and that is more than enough for NYC.

And one has to pay more than ten times just to own a used car in Singapore. Which is the more raw comparison? Go across the causeway? Don't you have to pay COE still?

The price of ownership of a car is way too high for a starting pay worker. He'd be better off using public transport till he starts earning >5K a mth.

b) Look, 4K USD = 7000SGD. 4 seater, 4 doors. You could go get a 3K USD = car if you are really that broke. You could get a brand new car for 20K.

a) Fine, I underestimated the price, but 6 USD is frankly a fairly good deal considering the ride is nearly an 1hr long. In the case, of New York, Singapore has no fight since the network is far more denser and the so called monthly MRT fare stamp is limited to 2 rides a day.

c) Er yah. So you want to work for 1/2 less in Malaysia? Don't want to come to Singapore huh...

Yes you're right.

But if only public transportations are made more efficient and commuter friendly. Currently, I believe most people are saying it is over-loaded during peak hours due to population size, and foreigners making up all of the bulk.

It isn't a pleasant experience commuting I understand...

Just stamp duties, it is suppposed to discourage people from speculating properties.

Just like road tax, it is supposed to encourage people to drive smaller capacity cars.

So what is your point, we should gleefully donate to the Govt all our monies? Is that what you are trying to say? Cos, Aside from pushing out all these examples which are utterly meaningless, you haven't told us anything useful.

And while we "donate" our cash, the Govt pats itself on the back and the ministers get handsome salaries. Heck, cut their pay in half, and you probably save a few million dollars.

I dont think the government is interested to tell you how you should spend your money, what I am saying is that you just have accept the fact that cost of living in all parts of the world is rising, unless you are saying that you want to buy yourself a an island and call yourself a King.

Oh definitely. Which is why I'm calling on him to address this. He says we ought to tax this tax that then says it will be useful blah blah blah.

Then he says democracy is a futile exercise. How about it? Save some tens of thousands and not waste a single penny on a useless exercise that will gain us nothing. Plus, no chaos. Constant head of state. Every one just kowtow or be a "quiter".

Costs of living in the world rising? Of course. There's inflation. But here in Singapore, a tiny increase is a big affair with already the high costs of buying a roof to live under.

gov only focus on increasing costs... but little or nothing is done to help people make ENOUGH to match COSTS....instead, they introduce FJRs (Foreign Job Robbers)....
