You forget that we do not have much freedom of choice when it comes to country matters. From day one, our lives have been planned out for us by others. Those in the creative line tend to feel Singapore is much too stifling for them.

We are battery hens in a farm, friend. We are lucky to be fed and not worry about predators, unlucky to be caged and milked for all our worth.

It's not a matter of only management, if you seriously think that it's management, I guess if you send Mr. Lee the elder over to Indonesia or Phillipines, you will achieve the same results as Singapore.

If not for our strategic geographical location, we would not have been able to achieve the status of being one of the worlds busiest port. Sir Stamford Raffles already saw the strategic geographical importance of Singapore in the early 1800s.

Generally, we are lucky.

When we talk about lucky here, i think it just boils down to the fact in the position of where we are standing. If we so happen to be high up there, powerful, rich and everything at the back of your call, i think that would be indeed considered lucky and that your view of the world is peaceful and prosperous.

However when you are unemployed, faced with the increase in GST, and a lot of mouths to feed at home. You would definitely feel you are the world unluckiest person. Unable to even provide the basic needs and eduction for the young, not being able to put food on the table, will the rich ever have this experience? Will the poor feel lucky in the state that they are in? And lets not forget that there will always be more poor ppl than the rich ones.

So how lucky can they go.

I would rather give up a little freedom for a bunch of safety and good life… seriously… but at the same time the option to change my government… which is what is happening now. We have the option to choose who we want to govern us. And we did. The majority of us choose PAP and a few other opposition voices in the paliment. So for those of the minorities here… I’m so sorry for you, you just have to follow the crowd.

Singapore may not be the best of place… but I guess its one of the better ones here in this planet. Its will never be perfect sorry… well if those people who really think things should change… why not get into the politics then here complaining this and that… nothing wrong but I guess alot of complains are rather not logical or just… I’m neutral towards the ruling and opposition parties… but I think I am logical to choose who govern my country…

The environment changes... and quite frankly, good or bad government, PAP or opposition, doesn't change the fact that Singapore is my home... It's not perfect... my family's not perfect too... but I love it anyway...

yes singaporeans are one of the luckiest people in the world. happiness with CONTENTMENT is great gain :]

be happy you need not fear for your life currently, there are earthquakes, wars, killings, bombings, everyday all around our city but we're spared all that. instead of complaining about ministers highest pay, be thankful your pay is already thousands more than other people from countries all around us. eg indo, cambodia, vietnam, thai, etc. or north korea, where the govt spends $6 billion a year on military while the people starve.

perhaps they wish they could live in a safer peaceful city like us, and have enough to eat and a warm clean place to stay even. while you nitpick on nonthreatening issues.

Yeah the Government is lucky because the people who don’t like the government only gather at kopitiams to complain… so next time if got hear any plans about coups just bomb the kopitiams can already…
