A pay rise is expected next year when the private sector's average pay rise is about 3.3%.

Minister's pay is also expected to raise as well.

Now we know where the GST hike's money is going.....

Those ministers should peg their salaries to the lower 15 to 20 percentile of income earners. Maybe 20 to 30 times the "median" of the average salary of the lowest 15% of income earners.

say for PM:

30 X $1500 X 12mths = $540,000

This way, there will be less poor people, because they have to make the poor richer in order that they become richer.

I tend to think civil service sector is paying better than the private. Those in the teaching profession start at 2.7K+ (ladies) and 3.0K+ (for men) depending on their honours degree.

Other Mindef and ST branches are offering similar packages which are sometimes far more attractive than the private sector.

So i don't really know who gets the idea that private sector companies pay better than the govt sector.

the normal ones like the clerk and all that, not really...

the starting pay is high, but after that, not much happens.. teachers are mostly there..

but there are many many more jobs other than teachers.. there are those who have to work shifts, those who are doing mundane and repetitive jobs every day..

and like, 2 weeks after they announced the 2% increase, they announced the civil servants salry increase... damn obvious where's the money goin'

actually, there is a crapload of $$ left over when the ministries went on their misadventure for the past years trying to decrease headcount.. encouraging a lot of people to resign...

now they are stuck with insufficient manpower for a lot of places, the ministries are probably desperate and heck! civil servants are human too Smile
