erm,from what i see,18 in singapore is young.

anyway,age doesn't guarantee experience and maturity. if so,people will stop making bad/selfish/narrowminded/dumb decisions once they grow up.what's more important is the maturity of the people as a whole.

thats my point, most of the officers are just there cos of the A lvls. i've met alot of F up and cmi ones. how do you have respect for officers as a whole? its not like a minority i would put it as majority if anything.

that said there are pple i would say are at least respectable, not to say they are really that great which also makes for a problem of why they are officers and others are not.

and of course we have the idiots who are very onz, but these type of people tend to go to extremes too.

I don't expect the nsf to go through that long training but i expect the selection to be good. training i have no exact idea what they go through so i won't comment

1) This is the age that if anything happens to you, it is your own funeral. A ten year old boy also can clear the course. Just look at the middle east where these boys are trained to fight in a war.

2) Most of the the time, it is the older SNCO s that look after your backside.

3) 18 is not young. 81 is young.
