Cheap meh? When u +++ all other expenses like food and transport, living in hostel is actually more more expensive than living at home.

hostels are a privilege to those who lives far away from the university's location or for those who want a quiet place to study. living away from home also builds up your character from being dependent on your parents. It also saves time for studies away from time taken to travel to attend lessons and classes everyday.

S$160? really ar? cheap oredi. especially when you got unlimited supply from water and electricity. travelling everyday to classes and from home amounts close to half of the rental if yours is a short distance or 1-way trip. For longer distance and bus transfers my God almost that amount already!

its time for your age to finance your own expenses. if u r getting a loan or your parents supporting your degree consider yrself fortunate pls.

im surprised this is the way an undergrad thinks...

Twit. thinking like a little kid, get real, the world does not owe you a living.

University internet access is costly as it is, having a direct leased circuit w/o going through Singnet makes it more costly but it's there for your academic purposes.. . Sure, get your own Singnet account and then we'll talk.

Assuming a student lives in the east, here is a rough breakdown of the monthly transport expenditure (and I m using the cheapest fares for the bus trips):

bus from hme to school = $0.63
train from Any east station to Boon Lay station = between $1.50 to $1.75
bus from Boon Lay station to NTU = $0.63

*Repeat process when going hme after school*

Let's not forget the time taken to travel is approximately 1.5hr to 2hrs per trip.

Living in hall may be slightly more expensive but if paying $30 to $40 more a mth saves me from travelling 4hrs a day, I think it's a pretty gd bargain.

boy in blues SG

while you stay hall, get a life for goodness sake.
NTU never had any intention of providing you full internet access
but only just enough to serve your pursuit of varsity education in
fulfilment of their service commitment to you.
and before i forget, next time don't say you're from NTU
