We must also understand that government can only provide
guidelines to employment and the better part of the decision making
in hiring still lies on the employers...if not ironically the other
Singaporean or your boss who will decide who to hire, for office
political? for personal? for departmental? benefit or
requirement.
say an office cleaner job that may take up only a few hours a day
on a permanent part time bassis. local retirees can easily fill up
the vacancies! not just this but many other similar jobs as well
that will not require much physical strength and skills. it all
depends on how an employer or a company manage their job poostings
so that it benefits they own and the government or even the general
population as a whole.
as for foreign talents we must know what we need tthem for? i agree
that the construction industries uses a lot of foreign labor and i
have no objections on that. but i see many more fooding other
industries and positions that can easily be filled by locals. worse
if a hiring manager is a foreigner i wonder what policies he/ she
will enforce when he/ she is the one in turn to hire for the
company?!
somply put: we want foreign talents so that they can stay and be a
part of Singapore. we want foreign talents to fill up gaps that we
cannot patch up and cover to prevent leakage. for both the above
mentioned we want truth and dedication. we do not want grasshoppers
and red herrings that's all i can say.
