With new political leadership at the helms of both countries,
Singapore and Malaysia should develop a more mature and
sophisticated mechanism in guiding and developing the political
attitudes and behaviors of those involved in politics.
This is critical as on the social, cultural and economic fronts -
the relationship is mature, deep rooted, amicable, mutually
supporting and beneficial.

Yet we have Mr Khairy speaking in this manner?
Who is Mr Khairy
?
He is but only a small fry trying very hard to climb the corporate ladder by stealing the
spotlight on himself, without understanding the heat
generated.
Each time when Mr Khairy open his mouth, somehow he has left his
brains behind, leaving his tongue to pollute the environment and in
the process antagonising everyone around him.
He is a disgrace to himself, his own community, and most of all his
father-in-law (PM Badawi).
His recent insensitive remarks have riled up the Malaysian Chinese
Community, who has now moved turned on the screws to demand an open
and unmistakeable apology from Mr Khairy.
See the Star, Saturday Edition, 26 August 2006 - MCA Youth demands apology from Khairy.
As a vice-President of the UMNO Youth Wing, Mr Khairy has no say in
the building of good relations between the National Leadership of
Singapore and Malaysia; and if he persist to step his foot in the
wrong places, it will not be long when Mr Khairy will be dropped
like a "hot
potato"

The good relationship can be seen in the many cross-border
marriages amongst the different ethnic communities of Malaysia and
Singapore - which basically begs the question - can one
differentiate between a Malaysian or Singapore Malay, Indian,
Eurasian, or Chinese ?
We share the same food, customs, traditions, culture, social
values, and way of life - (comparing like for like, i.e. the
urbanites with the urbanites, rural folks with the rural folks). Is
there any difference between the KL Pub Hopper with the Singaporean
Pub Hopper ?
We enjoy our beer and music in the same manner, and are equally at
home in any Pub in Malaysia or
Singapore.

Yet, there is distintion between bumiputra and non bumiputra. Non
bumiputra are always treated as second class or visitor. When go
Pub Hopping in KL look around who you are "dealing" with. You must
pay due respect to the owner of the Land (bumiputra).
In every society or community
there will always be distinction - in form or another - the same
goes for Singapore, with our classification of the Elites and the
Non-Elites; and the deeper racial undertones that are not spoken
officially, but discrimination exists in the Public and Private
Sectors.
The non-Bumiputra in Malaysia can be considered to have been better
treated than most non-Bumiputras in Indonesia, Thailand, and
Vietnam.
If you are able to grab one, you should read the book "The Chinese
Dilemma" - in order to have some understanding
of the non-Bumiputra's unique circumstances in Malaysia.
On the subject of "Pub Hopping in
KL" - I am surprised that you had the experience of paying
the respect to the Bumi owner of the land, on which the PUB is
built on.
Will a pious Bumiputra - proud of his Islamic religion - lease his
land to a PUB Operator, and allow himself to be seen inside the
PUB, so that we can pay respect to him ?
Were you sober before you think you actually saw the Bumi Land
Owner inside the Pub ?
