Why wait till after the elections to raise an issue? If there
was sufficient evidence (evidently there wasn't, just a load of
snippets and speculations), wouldn't it be prudent to pursue the
matter immediately?
Like PM LHL stated: whether election or not, if someone has made
defamatory remarks, i have to sue.
If you wait, the case becomes weaker.
So now the question begs: is this case from the elections dept
unilateral? Or coerced by members within the cabinet?
This entire episode stinks of sour grapes. MM Lee is utterly
despicable to claim that when he calls a person a liar and does not
get sued, then something is wrong.
In the first place, you do NOT go around name-calling. You have an
issue, you press charges, not use the media to initiate a hate
campaign against one individual. Blatantly slandering a person like
that is classic gangsterism, EXACTLY the
type he himself pledged to STAMP OUT.
He thinks he has the right to influence the decisions around him by
banging the tables? Pot calling the kettle black.
It's time for
him to step down. We do not respect
high-handed abuse of his political standing. So what if he has made
SG what it is today?
His attitude and belligerence bellies an arrogance and blatant
disregard for the law.
He has lost my complete respect.
