Help for needy is long term, not polls ploy: PM

Singapore is ineed a comfortable n good place to live in. Speaking about the
local complaining, it had always been a habit for the local to complain about everything.

Salman SG

The real problem is, they have put off taking personal responsibility and blaming everything they don't like on the govt. And they start to conjure up lies abt the govt. This is unhealthy and unproductive.

BillyBong SG

It's curious to note that if help for the needy is INDEED a long term plan, why did PM LHL find it necessary to EMPHASIZE that it is NOT an election ploy?

charlize SG

Somehow there is this idea that by repeating their words over and over again, Singaporeans will buy into their ideas and rhetorics.

Like the casino issue, they had to keep harping on the fact that it was decided at the very last minute after "careful" consideration from of views from all quarters of society.

Guess they think Singaporeans are a daft, uneducated bunch, living in the 60s. Laughing

How do we ensure that we have sufficient resources to spend?

o Raise additional revenues? Will raising tax rates affect the standard
of living and drive away businesses and talent?
o Spend less? Where can we afford to spend less on? Can we provide
lower standards of public services?
o Target subsidies and assistance? Should we extend means-testing to
more public services?

How do we help Singaporeans find and seize opportunities?

o More education and training?
o Encourage an entrepreneurial and can-do attitude?
o Create more paths to success?

How can government and the community help vulnerable Singaporeans?

o Continued emphasis on family and community support?
o Encourage philanthropy?
o Targeted assistance to those who need it most?

PLEASE AIR YOUR VIEW

I don't think its the govt's fault. Govt cannot micro manage businesses and cannot be expected to subsidise businesses.

Exhorbitant? Just because they cannot pay for rent? so why others can? You want to help them cook better wanton noodles?

You maybe surprised that I did - and so did many Singaporeans - but is this the issue ? Why are you fudging on this subject ?

You will be surprised that the Singapore Government is MICRO-MANAGING every aspect of LIFE in SINGAPORE - take COE for example, they are tweaking the COE prices to stimulate the buyer's to pay when demand is down, or dampen the market with higher COE, when demand goes out of control.

Why did they tweak the COE system to prevent successful $50 bids ?

It is not only micro-management of LIFE in Singapore, but also the WRONG MACRO POLICIES implemented by the Government a.k.a the Ruling Political Party that has KILLED the COMPETITIVENESS, ENTERPRENEURIALSHIP and TALENT in Singapore.

The reverse side to this statement made by a 'goblok' - "Just because they cannot pay for rent? so why others can? " - can also be told to the Government :

"If others can manage a country that is 100x bigger than Singapore, by paying its Government Leaders each a salary of $150,000 ANNUALLY and remain incorruptible, why should we accept that this Singapore Government be paid a MILLION DOLLAR SALARY TO MINISTERS to keep them out of corruption ? "

Running in circles can only create smoked Salman, and "no brainer, one-liners' certainly help to dim the light further Mr. Green

Atobe, you are treading on a dangerous ground with your "FEELING" on the COE "bidding" process. Shocked

Funny it may sound, I concur and agreed with your "FEELING". Razz

That is my "FEELING" too, to set the record straight. Mr. Green

After the coming election, wanna bet with me that the COE bidding price will be heading north instead of south? (Bet is only good until the next election comes along, then i will bet it will travel southward.) Laughing

Salman SG

Atobe really sounds stupid to me. More and more stupid. He has fallen from a whiner to a whining nut.

Chelzea SG

Wah ,u so smart ,can analyse it well.I same age as u oso nt so knowledegeable

Wasted lah, nvr go jc take Gp ...Think u can do well Laughing

Atobe SG

When you run blindly and aimlessly in circles - can we blame you for thinking stupid about anyone, as if your stupidity is not prominent enough ? Mr. Green

Hoopla, if your expression of exasperation is an indication that the combined effort of "everyone here against you" = have made an impact on you Exclamation Laughing

If you try to stop running circles around everyone, and adopt a more positive attitude - perhaps we can help you advance your slow progress with your - "No Brainer, One-Liners" that now have stretched to "No Brainers. 3-Liners".

Mr. Green

I read this topic n question is if HDB flat is expensive, can local chose to
sell their flat n moved to JB, Malaysia? I read a local earning $1800
able to buy a detached house n mobed there. He still maintained his
work here.

Salman SG

If he doesn’t mind the traveling. I guess so.

will4 SG

U heard of such cases local go to stay at JB, Malaysia bought a house, stay
there n rent out their flat?

Salman SG

Like I said, if they don’t mind the travelling why not? Why don’t you do that yourself and make some money and stretch your dollar at the same time?

Truly perfect debating skills - with "no brainers, one-liners" - even the mule will believe that the mountains will crumble into dust. Cool

Does anyone see any "proof" of Singaporeans asking for free housing, transport, taxes - or any other essential services and utilities ? Rolling Eyes

Can anyone proove that the Government has given us Cash Rebates only to take it back with ADDITIONAL YEAR-ON-YEAR increases to a variety of government services ? Embarassed

When a salman get smoked for too long, the brain gets dizzy, and will believe that it is running circles around others, deluding itself that its "no brainer, one-liners" are grand statements of earthshaking impact. Neutral

Unfortunately, the light bulb is without any electric charge Idea

Sheer dumbness can be intoxicatingly debilating Mr. Green
