What is new with the system ?
When the School of Sports was first thought of, it was to absorb
youngsters with a passion for all kinds of sports.
After the School was built, they set up a minimum standard that
only qualify students with straight A's for admission.
Which student with straight A's will be willing to dedicate
themselves into a career of sports ?
There were other students, who were hyper-active in sports but were
unfortunately not the academic types, and were rejected.
After nearly a year into the School operation, they realised that
the multi-million dollar facility is half full, and not reaching
its maximum operating capacity.
In other words, another 'White Elephant' in the making.
Now, they change the rules, and are more accomodating to students
with lower grades, but show a 'healthy' attitude in sports and/or
outdoor ECA involvement.
In the first place, why allow one year to pass and create all the
grief and the wasted lives of those students from that year's
cohort, who could not gain entry and moved on to other careers
?
Will the School accept the return application of those earlier
rejected (and now over age) Students, who may not have made the
grades in the other alternative careers that were reluctantly
accepted ?
Yet, the Government claim that we have a lack of talents in Sports,
when in fact they are the cause for this situation in the lack of
talents.
Similarly, in the field of Politics, the Government claim the same
- that there is lack of talents amongst Singaporeans to hold
leadership positions.
Can we believe them - when they are the cause for the supposed void
of talent from amongst Singaporeans ?
