miong SG Want a less rigid PAP Government? That's not impossible - throw PAP out of parliament. In this way, if and when PAP clawed their way back into parliament, is the day they have to become less rigid. QED!
lwflee SG Cue - "You are a mouthpiece of the government!" + "You are logical, but we do not care!" + "PAP sucks!" + "Fark the government!" + "Stoopid civil servant! You must die!" ad nauseum.
miong SG PAP government has deny our rights as citizens of a so called democratic country through - 1) absolute control of the medias 2) the use of NS to deny young men the freedom to protest against unfair policies and from becoming too active against government . Our Dear Leader fears a possible 'people power' like those in other countries where University and high school students were people power leaders that brought down corrupt governments - eg Philippines and Indonesia . So NS was incorporated. Todate Singapore is only other country in the world that has 24 months NS - and our country isnt even being threatened by our neighbours! Even Taiwan had slashed its NS to 12 months. 3) .......and total control of Union movements in Singapore. So you see, after having ensured they have got all these in a tight iron fist, Our Dear Leader turned us into obedient slaves, to serve, bring glory and fame to our Dear Leader.
redstone SG My letter to Mr Tharman worked. Finally the situation had been altered. Tharman had announced, 5% of space allocated to candidates who do not meet entry requirements, but have the talent and aptitude.
LazerLordz SG Good. But the yoke of the SAF Act around the neck of our male citizens is something of a double-edged sword not many are informed about.
redstone SG What Act? Yes, I know Act is something like law rule.... What does the Act? All male citizens and PR must do NS?
oxford mushroom SG I remember the principal of my JC complaining to me about this before. Parents want him to take in their children who 'just missed' the minimum requirement. In the end, more than half the students in his JC got in by appeal, which meant more than of them missed the minimum grade. But then other parents complain when the JC's ranking dropped.....
ShutterBug SG It's ALWAYS been like that with our Govt. Everything, from CPF to HDB to Education, its as dead-fixed as a door nail. Totally inflexible, non-negotiable, and Un-feeling. So, courtesy and graceousness anyone????
vito_corleone SG sim wong hoo has a fortune 1% of that of gates', jack neo makes crap movies that are local variations of foreign films, fandi is simply a has-been who never really made it anywhere.
ShutterBug SG You know, it seems topics posted in here has this tendency to get skewed so far off course.
redstone SG Totally heartless at times. Dead rigid!!!! Show some compassion at times for god's sake, Govt!!!!
ndmmxiaomayi SG Depend on what subject you missed by one grade. English, no choice. Usually they don't accept. So are Maths and Science. The rest, they can accept if you missed by one grade.
redstone SG I say if someone were to develope his talent here, and overseas.... At times he'll succeed better overseas.
redstone SG The system is this. Let's say.... Student A: A1, A1, A1, E7 Student B: C6, C6, C6, C6 Entry requirement is C6.... Student B will be accepted, by theory. And Student A will be rejected.
elektra SG unfortunately there are many people who cant make it in the local selection system cant afford going to US to try their luck...
ShutterBug SG I have this to say: It is hard, to dance a different dance, when you are on a stage with an orchestra that only knows one certain kind of music. Period.
