have any AC Neilsen certified survey results. But ask any taxi
drivers, ask your friends, hear how many are satisfied or
unsatisfied. Also, just take a look at how many households are
hanging the flat...You might want to refer to this thread to get an
idea on how some forumites think about hanging flags:

Lotus, Bill and Atobe,
I can ask you to do petitions, go on strike, join opposition
parties, etc, etc. But its really your choice if you want to do it
a not. I don't control your brain.
Bill and Atobe,
Migrating is not a fine print to save my hide. It is a loud bold
print to save my hide. I never said I am patriotic. I always say I
am self-centered. Migration is just fulfilling my mercenery
character.
Although I do not agree with everything LKY says, I strongly admire
his strenght in questioning. "What are your concrete action plans?"
question didn't start with me. It started with him. Remember the
NUS cultural hall incident earlier this year where he asked a
student who made a comment about the erronous gov policies the same
question? Today I understand and feel the power of that question as
it really leave a deep impression in many of you.
Sadly, amongst all the sgForumites here, you must be one of the
far-out extreme case of being a 'burnt out' Singaporean, unlike
many of us here, who still maintain a high degree of sanity and
tolerance, both refined to the point of being able to live by
"accomodating to the discomfort" .
What is with you ?
You declare yourself as never being patriotic, yet you are
concerned about the lack of patriotism in the paucity of flags
being hung.
You are unpatriotic, yet you will want us to take affirmative
actions.
It seems that you are lost somewhere between the Twilight Zone and
Timbuctoo - still looking for the perfect place in the Universe to
settle down.
Singapore may not be perfect, but at least we will not be "Third
Class Citizens" by emigrating into the wilderness, if we cannot
even be First Class in Singapore - which is reserved for the
Elites.
In the confused state of mind, can you even find the center in your
'self-centered' self ?
Do you seriously think that by migrating you can fulfill your
mercenary character - if you can even understand what being
"mercenary" is all about ?
A person with an empty mind, and an empty soul, will be easily
impressed at the slightest influence of a stronger
personality.
Can the hall of University Students measure up to the wily cunning
of an experienced politicians that survived the better part of 60
years of his life ?
Sure, any one in the shoes of a newbie undergrad will be impressed
by the oratory skill of a trained lawyer, and a veteran motivator
of mindless minions - whose oratory power has even held the
attention of members of the US Senate and Congress during his first
ever speech to the joint house.
What more can we expect from tertiary level STUDENTS ?
We cannot possibly blame every student in that Hall for being so
easily impressed; but I wonder if all possess the same uncritical
mind as yours, to be weight down by a simple question that merely
ask :
" WHAT ARE YOUR CONCRETE ACTION PLANS ? "
To any person who understand the person behind the name LKY, that
question asked - in his typical tone - is one of sheer CONTEMPT
towards the Questioner, who has the temerity of belittling the
policy of LKY's omnipotency.
Without your revelation of the origin of this question, I
had already previously accused you of being " CONDESCENDING
" - when you posed this question a few times.
Now that the originator of this question is made known, it confirms
the contemptuousness of the tone in the question itself.
And yet, your tertiary educated mind could hardly differentiate the
significance of the question.
Sad is the day, when the tertiary educated class can have their
minds numbed by the oratory skills of some actor that so cleverly
play to the emotions of the gallery.
No wonder a deep impression can be left onto any empty mind.
Sad to say this, but it will be doubtful if Singapore will feel a
loss with one more easily impressionable emigrant from this Little
Red Dot.
