frankly speaking he's a damn capable person. However, from what i see he's rather snobbish and stubborn at times. There's once i heard that he is vv strict with his right hand men, for some apparant reason i dont know why.

I hope he can do things his own way and not be an iron head.

However, SM Goh is still the best PM for me... partly because i grew up during the GOH era Laughing We know he's every move and care and steps he take was sincere caring and thoughful. that's what i like abt PM Goh.. er SM i mean.

Is your judgement of LHL based entirely on papers printed by Singapore Press Holdings only, or also from beyond our shores ?

Is the local banking scene more cohesive since MAS took over, or has the local banking scene left Singaporeans with a less competitive choice now ?

If the situation in the local banking scene has improved, why are Singaporeans now forced to pay for charges that were non-existent before LHL took over MAS ?

we now have to pay charges cos our banks are good banks

Can we trust the Singapore Press Holdings for printing this line of opinion ?

The Chairman of the Singapore Press Holding was a former PAP stalwart, also a PAP Central Committee Member, also a Finance Minister and for a short time as a Minister in the National Development Board and Defense; and was a DPM, and acting President.

Will there be an independent Newspaper Group that can have an alternative and INDEPENDENT view printed, where news reporters not only spy and tell on the Citizens but also the Government as well ?

The media has the responsibilities to present accurate and timely information to the public. This includes the explanation as to the stand taken by the government on certain policies.

Letters from the public who has raised concern and opposition to certain policies have been published before. The articles written by ex-civil servant Ngiam were not exactly pro-govt either. The opposition wards decision not to raise S & C charges was also reported in the papers.

Is it because newspapers are not available in your ivory tower that you didnt know ? Or have you stop reading newspapers ten years ago ?

Legal reserve ratio and liberalisation is a bit different. The reserve ratio and interest rates are fiscal tools use by the govt to stimulate the economy in times of a recession and to rein in inflation when necessary. It applys across the board, not just Singapore banks.

The liberalisation of the banking sector in Singapore refers to the lifting of curbs on foreign banks which has given the local banks an advantage. Under the Banking Act, the local retail banking sector is mostly dominated by local banks because of the minimun deposit requirements and restriction on number of branches or ATMs as well as other restrictions.

We shd compare our banks with global players because they are the ones that we will be completing against in future.

u wanna talk about "opening up" now? but open up to what? its like giving u a ballot paper with 2 lightning bolts on it... one red and one blue... u are free to choose the one u like...

i love my country. and i hate the way the ruling party acts as if it owns the place and treats the citizens like idiots.

Those who are frustrated and have left SPH Group will probably differ from your position.

They have tried to be honest and defend their right to be editors and journalists with an independent and critical mind, but have been threatened with the Internal Security Act and other Legislations.

Those who remained had decided to look after their very well filled rice bowl, and prefer not to question the status quo that has existed since LKY came into power and made sure that there is no longer any independent Press that can challenge the Government's position on any issue.

Surely, you would have known this trademark of LKY after reading his memoirs, and autobiographies written by local and foreign authors ?
