"unofficial and private" visits by Singapore officials to Taiwan
is an accepted practice by the previous Chinese heads, including
Lee Peng and Deng Xiao Peng! During the initial stage of
relationship building, there was great necessity for the Chinese
leaders to understand the position of Singapore, why we had to be
the last in ASEAN to have official relationship with China, why
military training of SAF have to continue in Taiwan, though Deng
offered Yunan and Guangxi two provinces for SAF. There were great
understandings by the great leaders.
Today, everybody knows that Taiwan is well known for the way they
play up issues in media, fight in parliament, play tricks to con
voters in electing ah bian...imagine a newspapers in Taiwan
published something like " SAF participated in HanKwang Exercise---
SAF training in Taiwan took the opportunity, in support of
Taiwan......." How would China react? start a war with
Singapore??
It is indeed necessary for China to continue to understand the
position of Singapore. Singapore's position remains the same about
the one china policy.
There is no need to overreact.
