ST, it's more about qualifications and experience and whether
you've got job skills that are required. For example, the
Australian immigration department regularly updates and releases a
list of occupations on demand, and this not only covers degree
holders but tradespeople such as plumbers and chefs too. If you've
got the points, the money isn't of much relevance - I completed my
application without ever having to mention the money that I haven't
got anyway. Basically, as long as you've got enough funds to live
until you get your first pay, you're fine.
As for closing off your role in Singapore to go somewhere else,
that's the tough part. More likely than not, there will always be
something happening or something that you will have to do, until
you hit a point where you go, "Okay, that's it - got to go
NOW".
