Ts,
The causes of depression will always be rationalized by the
person in it - cos the depression would need reinforcement and
psychologically it is sustained by the one going thru it but such
erroneous reasoning.
Having said that, depression is always cos one is unable to
appreciate what is at hand, eg a job, a role . Instead of that, one
tends or gravitates towards fulfilling what others assume is
right/wrong/good/bad ... ( add on) and also the conceptualized
models (eg, what love ought to be, what life ought to be, what
success ought to be) add more to the ''damage''.
One compares, one idealizes and the chronic wanting to escape
one's perceived circumstance/situation as not ''right''
and when not realized makes one feel stuck and wasting
away.
Frankly, it is not so. It is the unacceptance of what one is
that permeates one's being ... and percolating to one's doings.
Medication is merely going to suppress and keep at bay what one
feels is undesirable or unfulfilled or ..... Psychotherapy is
temporal and what is unreconciled within will eventually surface.
The wise stance would be to understand oneself and love oneself n
aceept oneself and then go about living.
Ps - I merely skimmed and made some suggestions and assumptions.
It is for TS to be self-honest and transcend the
dichotomizing,polarising ....
