im in the arts field and im quite sure everyone agrees that overseas provides more opportunity for creativity. in sg, its mostly academic-based, from what i experienced.

Say it is not easy to be recognized in Arts circle. Getting overseas Exposure is very good. Make sure you can afford a branded arts school overseas, any local brands are like "nasi lemak".

Unless you very very good then go ahead don't spent your older days regretting what you could do when young.

im in the arts too, and an overseas degree is truely different, esp with the limited resources we have here.

so theres another option. can you do like a BA degree in singapore, and then go over to an overseas uni to do your masters for like a year. in that way you have 3-4 years time to secure your relationship and at the same time ur future.

ok here's from someone who experienced it.. i broke up with my long time gf to study o/s and i think its absolutely worth it.. singapore is one small puny island dude.. and think about it.. there are many possible suitors out there, but only 1 dream you can grasp. btw mine was an uber long-d relationship that i would have had to maintain.. she was o/s too.. she was in aussie i am gg to the USA so yeah the choice was quite simple for me: SPLIT

Your perception of a good future is misrepresented by an overseas education; Going abroad to further your studies does not ensure a bright future. Likewise, doing your undergrad course locally is no promise to a bright future too.

I do not know you at a personal level to suggest whether if you should choose your 'future' over your current relationship. But if I were you, I'd definitely go for the future.

At the end of day, you being the decision-maker - should know what are your priorities? What do you want out of this limited lifetime? There's no point in seeking others' opinions, if you don't even know what yours.

My case is similar to eyeballl's post.

I've experienced a bad relationship after going australia for further studies last july. IMO, you need a good foundation to maintain a strong and healthy relationship, because you are not physically there for him/her when you go overseas.

It is worth sacrificing either the relationship or your education, but it is best not to mix them together. I had a terrible time when I broke off with my gf, plus I still have not adapt to the lifestyle and studies over there. It served as a reminder for me to learn from this mistake.

I would suggest that you go for overseas studies, since it is much more enriching than just being in a relationship. Who knows, you might find a better suitor over there.
