Bus bunching at Paya Lebar MRT.

** 6 buses in span of 4 mins towards Marine Parade. Last 135 and 76 went with no pax boarding. Then gap of 06 min for 43 SD which got packed to door.

Bunching analysis of Yishun 85x series:

Very common:

851 bendy followed with rigid or vice versa

858 especially on return journey.. can spot bunching already at tpe before even getting into yishun

Very rare:

852, 853, 854, 855, 856, 857, 859

Actually 851 is different from 147. 851 does not really run parallel to MRT. After YCK it just runs via Upper Thomson/Thomson and only meets NSL again at Novena. In spite of MRT operation, 851 will have a significant loading.

851 is SMRT's cash cow... utilisation rate is high

963 (especially rigid following bendy because rigids are way too slow because of high loading)

966 (ha ha ha... 3 buses together very common with then 20 minutes lag)

Very rare:

961, 962, 964, 965, 969 (last one needs to be confirmed but scheduling and runtime seems okay to me)

Worse is the back 3 buses are empty...

The max I spotted was 4 till now... This is ridiculous if the number has now jumped to 5 buses bunching. LTA just put buses... DDs is what the service needs.. and reduce 2-3 buses.

If afraid of PIE jam introduce 966A loop at Jln TPY/Upp Serangoon Rd junction as discussed with TIB1234T... or 966A loop inside TPY Lorong Lor 6

Just saw 969 bunch today at 3.35pm at Chong Pang towards Tampines. Buses involved were SMB3044P and SMB318U.

In other news, today 171 had 2 occasions of bunching

1140am (opp mandai camp 2 stop towards Yishun): SMB281R with TIB792E
330pm (Chong Pang towards Yishun): TIB792E with TIB572Z

sv190 yest evening bendy FULL at Stamford Court(Hill St) bus stop around 1840hrs...

while sv966 empty buses are happily returnnig to WRI...

Ironic, BSEP sure does not enhance riding experience for some routes...

961 bunching is quite common during peak hours.

961 bunching is needed since there is no bendy in the fleet... Due to long journey, seats are needed for many elderlies.

Often, you will have to wait up to 15-20 mins after 8.30PM, and 2 of 961 buses will come either 1 min apart or bunching, but available seats are limited at Bt. Timah Shell Station towards WRI... Been choosing to take 961 sometimes to observe its frequencies and the space available in the bus...

Normally dont see 961 bunch near Bukit Timah area, but agree with you that since it does not have bendy, load can be quite heavy and buses can go quite slow with lot of people boarding/unboarding at stops.

Stucked in jam for more than 30 mins on the left lane. I looked to the right and saw in order

TIB492X,TIB1025E,TIB1066L,SMB3110G,SMB3061P,SMB3002K,SMB3003H,TIB868X,
TIB464C,SMB264R,SMB3022C overtook my bus on the extreme right lane.

A great experience. Took me 1h from Bukit Panjang Road to Woodlands .

That's why sometimes taking 960 is the right choice! Took only 40 mins to reach my busstop...

1710hrs: TIB703M (sv975) bunch with TIB723E (sv975A) at Opp cck polyclinic stop towards LCK..703M was around 70% full while 723E only has less than 5 pax onboard...

SMB11D SMB15T (i was in this bus) SMB18K (downroute from BBT interchange to St 24, bunched at the first bus stop, 11D cannot take the load and pass to 15T, after 15T is full, the ‘swarm’ of people invade 18K.

Between 7 and 8am, very common to see two Sv 72 DDs back to back at YCK road towards HG. Likewise PM peak, very common bunching of two Sv 72 DDs towards YCK MRT at YCK road.
