They ask motorists to take public tpt and all they do now is buliding small ITHs,introduce many short haul trunks and feeders?Now Joo Koon svc cannot travel beyond Boon Lay also?Then everyone squueze inside MRT and trains have to work harder then neverending breakdown issues again is it?LTA has to think out of the box not just giving out contracts,built ITHs,adding more redundant buses..Out of 10 service pls introduce at least 2 semi express trunks leh..Latest 983 is a very good joke,Might as well renumbered it to 303 and wait for later date to introduce 983..Those added buses are for those increase populations and foreigners that work here..Cant see any massive significant in future.The only things i see is near empty buses bunching during peaks

I know its sound impossible but extending svc like 187 & 198 there might sound reasonable beside introduce a few industrial svc there.

As you said yourself, it looks impossible right now for 187 or 198 to be extended, looking at the horrible trend LTA has set. I am hoping they learn soon enough and not commit more mistakes.

But then, you need to consider those who are working in Jurong Industrial Estate and are currently taking buses to Boon Lay and transferring to JIS. If some JIS are shortened to Joo Koon without trunk services from Joo Koon to Boon Lay and beyond, they have to take buses to Boon Lay, take MRT to Joo Koon and again take JIS to their destination. Or they have to take MRT from their home to Joo Koon. Forcing everyone to take MRT to Joo Koon is no good: what if it breaks down? A trunk service from Joo Koon to Boon Lay and beyond would be good to relieve load on MRT, and provide alternative routes to Joo Koon (especially for those who stay in nearby towns such as Boon Lay, Jurong East and Bukit Batok).

You definitely need some trunks to ply from Boon Lay to JIS. The only advantage is you don't need all to start from Boon Lay once Joo Koon opens. Would be good to have 192 still from Boon Lay. 254 also can start from Boon Lay given it plies Upper Jurong.

There needs to be more systematic mapping of services to reduce duplication and enhance connectivity. Areas not connected today with bus service also needs to be given priority. Especially Tuas South extension where huge factories are set up by corporate have no bus service. I expect a new service from Joon Koon heading there.

I expect new service from Boon Lay to certain estates within JIS close to Soon Lee/Pioneer where no bus service today. Lot of scope for improvement within JIS.

Boon Lay will still retain a few of JIS svc,Would be suprised if 246 goes to Joo Koon..252 i think will stay at Boon Lay.I would think 49 will start from Boon Lay if 4-5 JIS shifted to Joo Koon and we might see LTA introduce 4x svc from Boon Lay too.

249, 251, 252 also should be Boon Lay.

254, 255, 257, 182, 192, 193 all can be from Joo Koon but 2 of these 6 should continue to originate from Boon Lay. I propose it should be 182 and 192.

193 can be renumbered to 253 operating from Joo Koon.

Today is Joo Koon and Pioneer MRT stations' six years old birthday!!!

Pioneer and Joo Koon have been around for six years already...

soon, Joo Koon Bus Interchange will open. and I am still waiting for my bus service to Pioneer...

anyway, I read from an article about Joo Koon Bus Interchange at https://publictransportsg.wordpress.com/2014/02/27/joo-koon-bus-interchange/. They say Joo Koon Bus Interchange will open in June 2015. Not sure how true this is. Maybe this is just a guess, since March holidays coming already and until now the bus interchange does not seem to be ready. So next possible period is June.

It could after all be just to host new bus routes.... while empty some lots at Boon Lay Bus Interchange for new routes.

Actually, even without Joo Koon Bus Interchange, we can still have empty lots at Boon Lay Bus Interchange what..... just shift 174e over to the bus bay lor, since 174e also not every part of the day or everyday in operation. Then the emptied lot at the end-on berth can be used for new route already....

Hi everyone. I am sorry. I would like to confess that the statement I wrote about the number of parking lots is based on what I saw from the master mimic of Joo Koon Bus Interchange. I have a strong feeling that the drawing on the master mimic is subject to changes.

There may be more than eighteen parking lots. I guess there will be around twenty two parking lots.

Proposal to re-route 192 route section at Jurong West

To Tuas:

Hi Mr JurongWestresident, actually, I think it is better if we let 193 take the route amendment at Jurong West residential town, since it is less likely (than 192) to be shortened to Joo Koon Bus Interchange, consider its length being short(-er than 192), its importance to Upper Jurong Road, and the limited capacity of Joo Koon Bus Interchange.

while it can enhance the bus connectivity at Jurong West town, it can also compensate for the possible "shortening" of 192^ to Joo Koon Bus Interchange.

^likewise for 193 if it is the one that is being shortened to Joo Koon while 192 remains, although this is less likely to happen, in my opinion.

actually 192 should retain... at maximum re-route 192 to ply Upper Jurong Road directly to Tuas Avenue 3.

193 can re-route to take Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim and go to Joo Koon Bus Interchange. 193 is more able to shorten because there is MRT line following it closely.

If can only keep one while shorten the other, I think we have to review pros and cos and prioritise.

Have been studying the bus routes around Joo Koon Bus Interchange since yesterday until now. Wrote everything at http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=122048820#post122048820. Too tired to write everything here. Will only post pictures here... anyway, the pictures are quite self-explanatory.

so, yeah, here is my vision on how the bus network around Joo Koon Bus Interchange would be when it opens.

Whoa... you've certainly thought a lot about this. Generally seems okay, but your third new route (Joo Koon - Jln Ahmad Ibrahim) cannot directly replace 194, as most ppl heading to Bird Park would be coming from other parts of Sg, and prefer to take bus from Boon Lay MRT. Maybe can extend that route to Boon Lay Int via Jln Boon Lay express, similar to 194 and 251 at the moment. And existing 194 can operate as M variant on weekends when demand to Bird Park is higher.

You may want to draw out all the routes on a single map using googlemaps, to make it clearer.

Well, I have created a map on Google to combine all the route suggestions that I have with regards to Joo Koon Bus Interchange. Here's the address to it:

In the map, I have incorporated my earlier suggestion for 192 into it, so it differs slightly from the one in the picture above.

Personally, I feel that my version of route network can be improved, but I am not sure how.

With regards to Mr 201911's comment, well, the problem is that Jalan Boon Lay experiences heavy traffic congestion. Although having a new route from Joo Koon to Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim would be longer for people working there, the travelling time should be shorter.

Whereas for Jurong Bird Park, I think we should just keep service 194. Anyway, this service only stops at Bird Park. So, it does not actually duplicate any route.

"fun" fact: even after shortening bus route 182 to Joo Koon Bus Interchange, the length is still very long, at approximately 30.5km.

personally, I feel that there will be another round of bus network changes when Tuas West MRT Extension opens. For now, I think this is quite good.

In my opinion, I feel that when the Tuas West MRT Extension opens, bus routes 254 and 182 should be reviewed.

The entire bus network at Tuas area should be edited to complement the Tuas West MRT Extension. But this will affect Tuas Bus Terminal more than Joo Koon.

Tuas also getting new terminal soon, to (possibly) combine with the depot there. Also, 194 completely duplicates 251 as 251 also stops at Bird Park. I do not see why they can't introduce a 251M that replace 194, which can also use 251's DDs should the occasion arise.

251M can replace 194 for Bird Park sector, and existing 194 can extend to JIS area that are not served currently. Once Bird Park move to Mandai, can withdraw 251M.

question is when will Bird Park move? it is not wise renumber 194 to 251M and then withdraw after one or two years later.
