Opinion: With the opening of the Tuas West MRT stations and Tuas
road viaduct, Tuas would be able to accommodate more people. I
foresee a change in land use, to allow higher density industrial
developments, or even office buildings, to be developed at
Tuas.
As more and more jobs are created at Tuas, more and more people
would have to work at Tuas. Besides increasing the capacity of
transport, I hope the Government could consider building
residential neighbourhoods at Tuas, or build new neighbourhoods at
Jurong West, to cater to the people working at Tuas. Travelling
from the Far East to Tuas (the Far West) takes around two hours.
Spending up to four hours every day on travelling is beyond the
capacity of any human being. I do not think anyone wants that,
unless no choice (eg. Have diploma in Maritime, but live at
Punggol).
Hi mr gekpohboy, don't think Tuas is gazetted for residential
area. Moreover, the Tuas port will shift there in another 12-15
yrs. Cheers. Thanks.
