Well, I guess the bus services are 252, 254, ...
198 is mainly in Jurong West Avenue 2 and 1, then ply AYE to
Bukit Merah, from Jurong Town Hall Road. The links it provide
should be the intra-town connections within Jurong, connection to
Jurong Point, and direct bus connection from Jurong West to
Queenstown area.
Queenstown is more accessible to Jurong West by MRT, including
from Avenue 1. If possible, we can split 198 at Jurong East Bus
Interchange. But the capacity is limited. Well, that's why there's
198A while 198 remains a long route to Queenstown.
I guess the long queue for 198 at Jurong Point in the morning is
made up of people going to the landmarks at Jurong West Avenue
1.
If there is a demand on 198, 187, 157 for bus connection between
Jurong Point and Jurong West Street 41, 42, 51, 52, Avenue 1, we
can consider having feeder routes of around 6-7km (each) doing a
big loop from Jurong Point to that area and back. Maybe one for
Street 42-Avenue 1, one for Avenue 1-Street 41-Street 51-Street
52-Avenue 1... Well, whichever is the shortest route. Using the
end-on berths if possible.
Service 198 goes to Bukit Merah Interchange
